I am trying to create a curb template for field to finish. I am using the OH & OV coding to offset a concrete curb so I only need one shot at the back of curb to define it. My problem is there are not enough spaces to properly define. I am limited to 30 characters and can't properly define curb and gutter. I need to have a code like TC1 OH.5 OV0 OH.6 OV-.5 OH1.5 OV-.4. This would be for a 6" header curd and a one foot gutter.

I need to be able to add more characters or is there some way to create a template and use it in the description.

Any help would be appreciated.

Wow, really??ÿ

I usually hit bottom of curb with, CC, (conc curb), and then offset the breakline and polylines myself.?ÿ

Are you hitting so many curbs that you need it automated??ÿ Also, top of curb instead of bottom??ÿ Why?

I've never thought about doing this before, but it looks like it could save some time for repetitive linework.?ÿ Could you create a curb template, or use one of the predefined curbs in the Roads - Design Template menu and then reference it in the Field to Finish code, under the "linetype" tab??ÿ When I get a second, I'll try it myself.

I have seen people o/s curb features before, if that is their prerogative then the amount is somewhat irrelevant.

Shooting Top Back of Curb has some benefits, it is easiest to define in that the rod is not on a chamfer as at top face and if you are really splitting hairs in the horizontal plane shooting Flow Line is a little off from the Face of Curb due to the diameter of the rod. On a practical level, building finish floors are usually designed off TBC with a 1% slope up across the sidewalk to the threshold. If the purpose of the survey was for roadway design then the flowline would be the most critical of course.

To the OP, I have not done it with codes, I have shot an array of the feature at the start and stop and noted that the relationship is constant. In general I just locate all features in cross section.

Assigning a template to the code in the "linetype" tab in Field to Finish worked.

Presuming you're attempting to process the results in Carlson Survey, one approach might be to simply shorten the abbreviation(s) of "OH" and/or "OV" (perhaps just "H" and/or "V", respectively) via the Code Table Settings feature of Draw Field to Finish?ÿ(refer to the "Offsets: OH,?ÿOV, OFL, OFB" section for additional discussion/information).

I hope this information helps.
