I am running Carlson Survey 2012, the AutoCAD version. For pleasure I do quite a bit of woodworking. Anybody ever use Carlson Survey for designing furniture (dining room table, dresser, cabenits etc.)? Is it usable for 3D wire-frame type work?
I don't really feel like spending the $$ on a separate CAD program.

Take a look at Blender. Open source and a good solids modeler

PPM,
I don't know if it works the same with Carlson, but with Civil 3D you can open Vanilla AutoCAD without the Map3D and Civil add-ons. I've done some 3D modeling with Vanilla AutoCAD, and it's a delight to use.
