Is there a way to get free topo maps online, I used to use topozone, but now they require a subscription.
Just type the address of the area you want the topo map of and then click on the red pushpin to download which topo map edition you want.

Mapfinder is free.
The quad sheets on the USGS link are free and you can download older quad sheets in addition to the current quad sheets (in PDF format) which have layers that you can turn on/off
Does anyone know why the new Quads do not show sections?
Most state DNR's have electronic quadrangles. WV has the
lines in ArcInfo shape format.
Thanks guys, as always, very helpful

To save ink! Just like when they stopped using green to show were the bushes/tree lines are.
There should be a clearing house for digital data for each state. I found the ones for New Mexico some years back for a mining claim with topo, photos, section lines, etc. Texas has TNRIS and it's great.
If you simply need a quick online look at a high resolution topo map with section lines, check out Gmap4. Here is a random spot near LaCrosse, WI:

If you want to snap approximate coords (WGS84) off the map, just point and rightclick.
To find a location try Menu ==> Search.
OK, full disclosure time. I'm the developer of Gmap4 which is showing you the topo maps. The homepage has a FAQ and examples to quickly get you up to speed.
