Does anyone know if AutoCAD LT will display LDD points? I want to give my field guy a copy just for connecting points. Would LT work for this?

All AutoCAD builds (except possibly Civil3D) would require an object enabler. This has been a problem for years. You can check Autodesk's Object Enabler Assistant to see if your target is listed, but I doubt it.
It's not much use to send a point ascii file since LT can't use any add-ons to read them back in. Your best bet would be to use LDD/LDC to change the points to Softdesk blocks before sending the drawing.
