Hi, I am using Carlson 2018 Itellicad and when I am in model space, with the "Display Locked" paper space view, and I use 2d line the view centers on my crosshairs, after I make a pick.
The viewport even changes, so that I have to exit to paper space, turn off "Display Locked", reenter model space and then pan the view back to where it was.
Is there a setting that automatically centers the view on the cross hair location??ÿ ?ÿ I have noticed that it also happens in regular model space, the view changes to center on the cross hairs when I click.
Thank you for any suggestions or advice, beyond "stop using 2d line"?ÿ Haha

I probably don't remember Carlson well enough but... are you sure it's actually messing up your viewport and it's not just purely a graphical thing to keep the item you're working in easily visible in the middle of the screen?
Yes, the view port changes location and I have to re-set the drawing. It is a matter of keeping the item visible in the middle of the screen but it also revises the viewport, even with "Display Locked" marked yes.
meaning, if you continue your command, finish your line, the viewport doesn't return to what you originally had locked in as your view? I have had that part happen to me when zoomed in, but it always returned to my locked in display... I'll be scratching my head for ya...
Are you using the mview lock??ÿ I am unaware of a display lock.
when I am in paper space and click on the model space view line the left hand screen shows options, including one called MISC. Under MISC is the option to "Display Lock". Clicking yes will freeze that view so that you can toggle in and out of paper/model space and zoom in and out with disturbing the paper space view parameters. Except when I use the 2D line command.
Is there a selection where you can toggle between auto-centering and not?
I've noticed Civil 3D will do this with entities it creates some times with profiles if the scales are changed in model space yet the profile was a particular style set up with a particular scale but the view port scale stays the same. Not sure if that makes sense??ÿ
Under "Options" for 2DLINE, which option is selected for "Auto-Zoom Mode"?
I believe it is set to Never by default.

Did that suggestion provide a clue you could use to solve your problem?
If it did it seems like you should probably report this to Carlson anyway, as one would expect locked viewports to at least return to their prior settings after being zoomed/panned by the Auto-Zoom feature.
