Just heard bits of this on the news last night.

Surveyor's Son Found Dead outside of Office

Apparently James Franklin's son. Roster says he's an LS in Chickasha. For the life of me I don't think I've ever met the man, or seen his work. Chickasha is only 15 minutes down the pike.

Anyway, y'all say a prayer for our "brother-in-arms" and his family.

The father found his son's body on the west side of his office, which is located behind the family home, but the police are awaiting a search warrant so they can enter the office? Something's not right here.

I know, sounds sketchy. But around here the local news usually only gets it half right then makes up the rest.

I'd wait a day or two 'til some info is released. Just hate to hear that any of our 'small clan' is affected by tragedy, no matter the circumstances.

My thoughts exactly. I dont like hearing about any of our guys suffering any kind of hurt or tragedy...even ones that we may not always get along with.

May he rest in peace. May God put His loving arms and comfort around his family and their loved ones.

Good advice. A few months back, there was a scuffle at a convenience mart in a town a few hours south of here in which the owner shot and killed two "customers". The local press had the store owner tried, convicted and sentenced in the initial story.

A few days later, after the DA reviewed the facts, it turned out that the customers were a couple of violent felons recntly released from prison who started the altercation and were intent on robbing the place and severely hurting or killing the store owner, his wife, and his son.

I wouldn't put too much credence on a detail like this search warrant thing until it all shakes out after a few days.

At any rate, I don't even want to imagine the pain of showing up and finding the lifeless body of one of my children. My condolences and prayers go out for this family.

I can assure everyone that I did not kill my son! I would be lost without his help.

James, are you the same one as the one that is in Oklahoma?? There may have been a mix up if there is two James Franklins.

This JF is from NH, not OK, so I suspect a coincidence in the name.

If I'm wrong James, you and your family have my deepest condolences.

I looked at the registered land surveyors in OK and found James D Franklin (LS 183? - I didn't write it down). I googled James E Franklin and found links to his business in NH just as his profile says. My assumption is that James E Franklin who posted was making a joke.

I see it as similar to what Mark Twain said when there was an obituary published about him: "The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated" (or something like that).

I could imagine me making a comment to that effect if I saw reference to my name on a death.

Anyway, my condolences go out to Mr. J D Franklin. That has to be one of the toughest things to deal with, losing your own offspring.

Yea I think there was a mix-up in names here. I don't think our James Franklin that posted, though, was making a joke. I think he was just trying to say it was not his son. Maybe he will come back and clarify more for us.
