Gavin, great idea. ?ÿI really don??t know any more details than that though.
Shelby, or anyone; ?ÿIs there a way / willingness for you to send a link to this thread to Eric??s brother via FB, etc?
I asked W & he said, ??I'd be happy to but I'm not friends with Eric on FB. It's a public thread though, so anyone can view it.?
My heart is sad. RIP, Eric White.
Nate
I managed to track down Eric's brother on Facebook and I sent him a message of condolence and a link to this thread.
Very saddened to hear this...
Very sorry to hear this. He was a heck of a nice guy.

I found his obituary online.

He was a good one, such an interesting and unique person.?ÿ ?ÿI recall him posting about being cancer free, that was last october.?ÿ ?ÿI was hoping to see him more active here, but I guess he wasn't in as good a shape as it seemed.?ÿ?ÿ

RIP, Big E.?ÿ?ÿ

Sad to hear. From his posts, he seemed like a good guy. I remember how he fell in love with surveying from his first day on a crew.?ÿ
That is sad new, he was a regular here for years.
I just saw this and it really bums me out. I remember when Eric first showed up on the original RPLS board because he was representing some home machined prism holder or some such for a guy?ÿhe knew who was trying to sell them. Even though he wasn't a surveyor he stuck around like a mulleted backwoods hermit Zen puppy dog... joining in on conversations, curious about surveying and fitting in with all the quirky, single minded mavericks that are typical of this profession. Then he even started surveying! What a trip. And man oh man did he ever wear his heart on his sleeve... odd jobs logging, surveying, the Donna years, family tragedies and triumphs,?ÿdrifting around. Rest in peace Eric, I mutely went along with you in your ups and downs. Wish I'd followed up and picked up the phone instead of just thinking about it a couple times. So it goes.
??like a mulleted backwoods hermit Zen puppy dog...?
high praise indeed
RIP Eric.
Been over 20 years.
You are missed.
