Fingers moving faster than my brain.
Quite a story. Too bad it is so brief.
I have a sneaking suspicion that the author of the piece is not a surveyor given the quote:
"Although often regarded as a mildly eccentric figure in survey circles"
That describes every surveyor I've ever known.
I am deeply saddened to hear this. I've know Alan for about 20 years. He was very active with FIG and I worked with him on several groups with Commission 5 as well as the FIG historical committee. Not only was he ever so brilliant, but he was great fun. We killed a considerable number of brain cells together. I will always remember his great smile, warm heart and keen desire to contribute. Rest well my friend, peace be upon you.
