I just looked it up today because the spell check told me whisky was right. Apparently 'whisky' is Scotch whisky and 'whiskey' is Irish and American whiskey.

Maker's Mark uses Whisky as a nod to their heritage

And some bourbon can be called whiskey and some whiskey can be called bourbon.

I researched this a while back, decided I didn't care that much. 🙂

This is kind of up there with a distinction between boner, stiffy, woody, or even Mr Happy. There are a couple songs about too killa making your clothes fall off, or something. Can't 'member either where my pants went or that goofy cactus juice.

They will all get you in trouble without due respect. Show the respect, expect it from others and you may get to have some sunshine in 'da morning. As you sip on your Bloody Mary.

I don't imbibe in any of it, but I'll go with whiskey with an E. Then again, it ain't on my shelf.

I am a whisky drinker, whiskey gives me headaches and is a little to sweet for my taste.

Maker's Mark is one fine whisky although I lean towards Cutty Sark as my "usual." It's getting hard to find now a days though. My local liquor store owner says it's because all the OLD MEN that drank it are dying.

I do enjoy a Jamesons Whiskey when I travel though, it has a nice smooth finish, so I am not that limited in my tastes.

Try "Famous Grouse". It's the best selling whisk(e)y in Scotland. Not a single malt but still pretty good.

Funny you should mention Famous Grouse....My local liquor store must have bought a case of it and I think I am the only one who drinks it. I'll buy a bottle of it and weeks will go by and I'll go back in and there's the same 6 bottles left until I take another one off the shelf. It's definitely a good whiskey and it won't break the bank.

I've been to the Jameson Distillery in Dublin (as well as the Guinness brewery, but that's a different thread topic). I enjoy the Irish whiskeys and Jameson is very tasty.

Whiskey on the rocks...

Yellowstone, a geyser in every glass.

This was a famous drink on Wednesday nights around here, a gulp and a water back.

I'm more of a bourbon guy but Glenmorangie is a pretty fine Scotch, and I do like Jameson's as well.

My son recently purchased a bottle of Blanton's bourbon, that's the smoothest stuff to pass my lips in a long time. I think it's about $55 / bottle but well worth it if you like bourbon.

Canadian Mist has been my long time "usual" whisky, at least the one that is in my cabinet.

Here's a very interesting site, I was very surprised at the Canadian Mist score.

compare your whisky
