When did using the turn signals on your vehicle become optional? I missed the memo.
South Jersey - People still use them
North Jersey - I can't remember people ever using them (especially when changing lanes because the other a$$holes will speed up to make sure you can't get over - THEY have to be first)
Do they actually come with an off switch?
Turn signals are a sign of weakness.
Don't you hate it when someone turns it on when they're halfway through their actual turn?
I get just furious when I set (politely) waiting @ a stop sign for a car coming from my left and it seems to get slower, and slower, then all of a sudden it turns right. ....gee couldn't you see someone was waiting their just to see what it was you were up to?
I don't trust the users, still wait and watch the front tires to see what direction the vehicle is headed.
"sit" not "set". I can't believe I did that. (too late to edit)
Perfect

I use them when there's somebody around that needs to know where I'm going. Otherwise, I don't waste the effort.
My wife is an honest person who follows the rules. She had a heck of time in the Bay Area until I finally convinced her to not signal until she's crossing the lane line because everyone in the Bay Area is more important than you and can't let you into the gap.
On some level I understand their angst because every time I let someone in they proceed to thank me by slowing down to 10mph less than traffic or leave a 50 car gap which constantly gets filled by other drivers. So it gets to the point where it's NASCAR out there and I let no one in especially the doofus that wants to come out of the corner gas station driveway and go perpendicular across three lanes of rush hour traffic to get into the left turn lane, GAWD I hate that.
But I'm not bitter.
Back in the early eighties I worked with an "old" guy who was over 60. He would drive with his turn-signal on until one of us in the truck would finally say hey Bill, your turn signal is on after we got tired of the ticking. (He always insisted on driving) Now I'm over 60. Yep, your hearing starts to go, and that nasty turn signal can be hard to hear. I mean, yeah, I think some car's turn signals don't have an off-switch.
"... I don't waste the effort."
Effort? Please explain...
None of my motorcycles have turn signals...or mirrors for that matter. I've never ran into anything that was behind me...:pinch:

They can't find the phone app for turn signals.
I had a friend years ago that had a bumper sticker that said
"Forget World Peace Visualize Using Your Turn Signal"

I think there is some obscure law in Baltimore that says that turn signals are not to be used... and if they are used, they are to be used incorrectly.
Earlier this week while driving home, there was a car coming the opposite direction without any exterior lights on. It was getting dark. The cop I saw driving by (right in front of me) did not bother pulling the idiot over to tell them to turn on their lights. The cop was in the left lane, me in the right lane. At the last moment, the cop decided he wanted to turn into the store on the right. No signals, just slowed down, let me pass on the right and went in.
Last winter when we actually were getting a few inches of snow, I heard on the radio about a driving school that was being closed for the day due to the weather. I promptly wondered why since that is EXACTLY the type of instruction Baltimore drivers need.

Ditto here too. IO reminds me all the time that my turn signal is on. I don't hear it...
