Some/many of you might remember a couple of days ago when someone posted a rather horrific photo of a surveyor that had been run over by (apparently) huge piece of equipment. It was removed as soon as I saw it, which was right after I got 500 million reports from our esteemed Community members (thank you).
As I mentioned above, I removed the image. It was the right thing to do. The original poster should never have posted it. He knew it was questionable in the first place because he even prefaced it with a statement about how it might not be appropriate and gave me permission to remove it if I saw fit. How generous of him. If he thought it was questionable, maybe he should have just asked me privately in the first place. But I digress.
Today I logged in to the admin area of the website and was greeted with a massive spike in traffic the likes of which I'd never seen here before. I was pretty excited about it but, of course, I wanted to know what caused it. Upon further investigation, I realized it was that post with the horrific image, which I had actually forgotten about by then. Heck, the traffic continued to soar even after I removed it, because it had been shared on social media hundreds of times, and people were still clicking to see it. So my excitement level went from a happy WOW to a disappointed WOW. Oh well. I did the right thing by removing the post. But man....
I'm still not convinced that was a real photo. But it was horrific in any case.

I am glad that I missed this.

I'm with you Jim, I didn't want to admit to myself that it was real....
It would be difficult to do something like that; outside of Hollywood.
It was horrific; none the less
:sob:
Agreed. I firmly believe it was fake.
Saw it, not pretty, maybe not real, but shocking.... Don't get why some are drawn to that stuff.... Me? never watched any "Faces of Death" or internet beheadings type stuff... heck I even stay away from the chainsaw massacre type movies.
Different strokes, I guess.
Photo has been out there awhile.
Saw it last year on a google image search.
Mayhem, gore, destruction are the social media magnet for lemme see that followed by a wrenching gut reaction.
You might consider adding another administrator/moderator or two who reviews new posts almost when they appear. It may alleviate some of your workload.

Been going on for centuries...
Maybe even millennial....
I saw it but didn't click on it.
I did read the reply comments and they were good. You got a lot of posters watching your back here.
And I do like the title of this post!
I missed it. I am glad I did.
If that were me, I would not want my family to see a horrible image like that year after year.
You did the right thing Wendell.
