My biggest concern is for Wendell's Donkey. He looks like he is trying to pull a load, that is too heavy! (Look at his avatar!) Other than that, all is well. Maybe Wendell is trying to tell us all something. Like it's a big job he's trying to pull off! O well, that's be most intellectual comment I can develop!!

Wendell and company,

thanks again for doing what you do. many of us are averse to change, whether it be for better or worse. it will take some getting used to, but generally this looks like a worthwhile format.

i want to take this opportunity to thank you for making a change that i had requested a couple years ago: on the larger entries (when someone has line after line and a lot of content), i had asked that you identify the user at the bottom. the idea was that i could maintain my thoughts, attribute them to a user, and keep on reading the next entry. you have now done that, and i am grateful. this is especially handy on the entries that are technical in nature and contain just so very much dialog.

your collective noble efforts do not go unnoticed (i don't generally care for double negatives, but in this case, it looks right)

The new site is awesome. No complaints at all. However, since I love the "recent posts" button, is there a way for the user to select how many recent posts threads can be viewed on one page, i.e. select 20, 50, 100? Since the life span of a thread is about 24 to 48 hours, it may keep one that is of interest handy. However, if it's real popular, following it is no issue.

Just a thought.

Use the New Posts button instead. Then if you are keeping up the list will be shorter when you refresh.

I would prefer not to have posts broken up into pages.

This new software is a big improvement on my iPad. The old one wasn't very mobile happy.

I don't mind the pages, but being able to set the number I see would be the only improvement I could think of after using this for about a week. I find I'm spending more time here because it runs so much smoother than I did at the other version.

I'm spending more time here as well. It's smoother, as you say, and much faster.

With New Posts, the list will be shorter because you only see the ones you haven't read yet. Then you don't need a longer page.

First off, thanks go out to Wendell, et al (et ux?), for their work and support to keep this place going. I' m happy to have it around.

Honestly, the new format scared me a little when I first saw it. If you read my post about my old school bus, that is exactly how I felt. I immediately "missed" the old format. But to stay alive in this (or any) business that is so digitally inclined, we all have to learn new tricks. I was sick to my stomach for days when I realized my EaglePoint would not work with Windows Vista. I wanted to terrorize Bill Gate's offices....but I got over it. It actually only took a day or two in the saddle for this new format to start feeling like home. The bells and whistles are really a good thing. And if it makes it easier on Wendell and the Crew...GREAT!

I've understood for a long time that surveyors are a funny bunch. We will bitch and moan all day long about unlicensed folks, or the property owners themselves, that attempt to survey their own property. Then some surveyors turn around and attempt to navigate some professional plateau, like corporate taxes or medicine, because "we don't need no stinkin' pro..". When it comes to things we know little to nothing about, let someone that DOES know take care of it. For me, the same goes for website management. I don't know the first thing about it. Leave it up to the professionals. And this place is FREE for crying out loud!

I'm really hoping that none of us really gave Wendell the "If you don't fix it, I'm never coming back!" routine. Pretty childish and self-centered in my book. Once, as a party-chief, years ago I threatened to quit if I didn't get a raise. I thought I was a key player in the day-to-day and felt my recompense should reflect my lofty idea of my worth. Big lesson learned quick...No one individual is more important than pack itself. One member may perish, but the pack continues.

Good job, Mr. (& Ms.) Harness. I appreciate all you've done and thank you.

Just click WATCH post, then if you find the post interesting you will be alerted to a new reply in that post ...a week... a month... a year from now.

That would be my only possible complaint - that replies don't get nested but instead go to the bottom of the thread. If there's a setting to change that please point me to it as well.

How come Angel gets all the neat fonts and smiley faces? Must be because she is a Cardinal fan.

One last point about our reasoning for the conversion: We realized one day that most of our users are older (no offense intended) and we truly want to be attractive to young professionals looking for a place to learn about this awesome profession called Surveying.

DANG IT TO _ _ _ _! There goes my plan to parrot the stuff I learn here to young surveyors so I can look like the smart one.:poop:

Jokes aside, I don't think I ever thanked Wendell and Angel for providing us this great TOOL ( and for free at that ).
:love:Thank you Wendell and Angel:u:
I don't always log in so my coming and going is seldom noticed but I always come back to my own kind.
Wendell has given me that. A place to feel comfortable on the web.
When I need to rant. I can come here.
When I need to laugh. I can come here.
When I am stumped on a problem. I can come here.
When I need to get the real story on new equipment or technique, I can come here.

Wendell, I like it just fine.:good:
