Forum Updates for 2020-12-26: New social features

If there's one thing that the 2020 Christmas season has brought me is time. Since we aren't going out and doing as much as a normal Christmas season, it has given me more time to work on stuff. Something I've been wanting to do for awhile is try to make it easier for new people to join us. Plus I've wanted to add more sharing tools to encourage folks to tell their surveying friends about us.

Facebook groups are rather popular and growing in numbers daily. I myself am a member of several surveying-related FB groups, and I often wonder how we can get them to visit SurveyorConnect. I mean, FB groups are rather messy, hard to manage and particularly hard to find older posts. However, forums aren't popular like they once were because of social media -- so we need to raise awareness. One way we can all help is to share forum topics of interest on social media.

We've had sharing tools for Facebook and Twitter for quite some time now, but I've just added support for WhatsApp and LinkedIn as well. I invite you to share surveying-related posts and topics with your social media brethren! It's easy to do, just click the sharing icons located at the top right corner of each post you want to share (see screenshot below).

Also, for the Facebook crowd, I've added Facebook login and registration options. New users can simply visit the login or registration pages and use the "continue with Facebook" (or "login with Facebook" if not already logged in to FB) option to get registered at SurveyorConnect quickly and easily.

I really love the atmosphere and supportive nature of the people here. I think it would be really great if we could grow our little family some more. ???? The great thing about this place is that we can weed out the riff-raff and focus on the people that are interested in becoming part of the family -- you just don't have that kind of control in Facebook and other social media groups.
