Hi I am a registered land surveyor from New Zealand - I own a small practice in New Plymouth with 3 staff - a surveyor, a planner and a spatial scientist. GeoSync has been operating successfully since 2005. I am interested in taking a wee break in the next couple of years and so am on the lookout for someone to join the practice to share the load with a view to taking over the whole practice when I retire in the next ten years or sooner all going well. I am not sure if this is the right forum for this but I am sure you will let me know.?ÿ

Kia ora and welcome to single best surveying resource on the planet

There are a couple or three kiwis active on this site - plus several lurkers

This board is significantly more active than the empty echoes on the Survey+Spatial one

Glad to see I haven't lost my place as the southern most poster (I'm in Chch)

=Jim=

@jimcox?ÿ

I will never forget the day you popped on here to report you were in the middle of an earthquake.?ÿ Your post was less than a minute old when I stumbled onto it.?ÿ That really got my attention with respect to the speed of information these days, as I'm near the center of North America and you, most definitely, are not.

@holy-cow?ÿ

My most impressive event with communication happened when I was at work and the web was pretty much new to us.?ÿ I searched for something technical and was astonished to find the best result was from Italy.?ÿ It hadn't been so many years before that we paid by the word to send electronic correspondence to our foreign offices.

Yep second Jim Cox's comments about this being better than S+SNZs board! I'm up BOP way doing mostly small scale subdivision, topo etc along with plenty of planning work.

?ÿ

Regarding your posting there are a couple of good threads on here about succession and a firm I know locally have just done a good job of a transition.

?ÿ

@lukenz?ÿ

Your use of BOP, which was an unknown to me, led me to the explanation via Wikipedia.?ÿ That led me to discover a new word to me-----bight.?ÿ Being far removed from any coastal region, I had never heard that term.?ÿ I will admit it looks much like a bite out of a sandwich.
