Howdy

I've been reading posts here recently, decided to go on and create an account b/c I'm sure I will be asking questions at some point.

I'm not a surveyor! However, I do construction layout for myself on small site jobs. I've been doing this for about 30 years and started recording angles and distances in fieldbooks before moving up to at different times to a total station with data collector, a base/rover gps, and a robotic ts.?ÿ I use Carlson Survey/Civil and few other software packages to do my office work, and Survce, Surveypro and Magnet Field on the handhelds in the field.?ÿ?ÿ

Like the title says I'm here to learn.?ÿ My goal in my work is to be as accurate as possible, that's how I differentiate my work product in my local market, and I'm not done improving yet.

Looking forward to getting through all 757 pages of Surveying and Geomatics, I'm 161 pages in so far.?ÿ Then I'll move on to the rest of the forums.

Molewhacker

?ÿ

Welcome.?ÿ My heavy/highway construction staking was all learned from an unlicensed PC when after licensure I decided to work for a large contractor.?ÿ I felt that a man who only did construction stakeout for 30 years was a man I could learn a lot from.

Don't hesitate to contribute.

Thanks all, this seems like an amazing place, scratching my head wondering how I never knew about it.?ÿ

I've been fortunate in that over the years one particular surveyor in my community (who still establishes control for me on some jobs and does as-builts and verifications for me as well) was willing to answer all my questions when I went to him asking the whys and hows of things.?ÿ I never could have made it over the initial hurdles without someone to explain what at the time seemed like some pretty arcane knowledge.?ÿ?ÿ

By the way "Ring Ring" is my favorite series of posts, I never cease to be amazed by the general public.

Welcome.

There are probably plenty of contributors here who have a co-worker or boss with a mole somewhere on the head that is in need of a serious whack.?ÿ You might get paid well to provide whacking services.
