The thread on my-brand-is-better-than-your-brand was getting a bit testy, but when I last saw it things didn't seem to be out of hand.?ÿ Did sometime really cross a line far enough to warrant killing the thread?
Two threads were getting pretty out of hand, so I removed them. The final blow was when one member called out an anonymous user by name. Some of our members want to remain anonymous (for various reasons, no judgement here), so calling them out by name is not cool.
@wendell?ÿ
I was participating in that thread but quite frankly I'm not going to miss it. Good riddance.?ÿ
Mr. Slylock Fox who goes here under the pseudonym James Fleming is being naughty again.

I only kept reading both of those threads in hopes that useful information would come out regarding checking gnss equipment and/or standard proceedures for shooting gnss points under canopy. There was some good stuff posted but I knew the end was near.
Gavin Schrock posted an article on a few surveying facebook pages titled "Surveying Instruments - Building Trust Through Verification". It was a decent read that some here might like to read.

I accidentally did that exact thing in one of those threads without thinking. ?ÿCaught it and edited it fairly quickly, I hope.
I'd just gotten the "full deal" upgrade. I've used it for about 6 wks now. It was so good, I got excited, and talked about it.
I'd probably have gnixed it too, if I was Wendell.
But my happy happy was real!

Ps
And still is!

Yeah, I *really* hate removing threads and so I always try to give them a chance. But sometimes they get so bad that they just need to go. It pains me to remove perfectly good information, even when it is infected with bad posts. I don't take these decisions lightly, and they aren't usually based solely on my own decisions -- they are often impacted by reports from members who have identified a problem. It's usually a collaborative effort. 🙂
@gmpls?ÿ
And if you are not a Facebook user I assume this page is similar content https://gogeomatics.ca/surveying-instruments-building-trust-through-verification
@lukenz this page is far above the zoo some FB groups turn into with name calling, insult hurling and the wanna be mental giants becoming keyboard warriors.?ÿ
I find this group quite refreshing and a great forum for all of us in the profession to either share knowledge, learn something new, or, just chat.
?ÿ
Agreed, I'm not a Facebook user hence why I posted link
I will check out things on my wife's FB connection occasionally, but usually because someone has told us precisely where to look to find a specific post.?ÿ I have spent some time on a FB group site called Kansas History Geeks as I are one.?ÿ
