Balloon access to space soon to be made available.?ÿ ?ÿMaybe raising $50,000 for the "president" of Flat Earth Society would be worth it??ÿ Go Fund Them!?ÿ spaceperspective
I'm guessing these people don't actually want to be convinced.
There is already plenty of evidence and testimony.?ÿ The true believers would find some way to argue against any evidence - for instance the "traitor" who went up was bought off to deny the truth of flatness.?ÿ I think many "flat earthers" are in it just to have something to argue about, rather than really believing it.

Waste of money, give them a 20-25 dollar an hour job as a chainman, and then charge them with reducing grid to ground data and verifying it checks, bid work in area's needing massive poison oak clearing as a safe guard for these folks lack of common sense.?ÿ
@bstrand?ÿ
You can't fix stupid.
Ignorance is cured by education, stupid is cured by darwinism and unfortunately they take a good swath of the people who don't deserve to be taken....
Imnsho.
@bill93 and others - I acquiese.?ÿ Thought of this as a golden opportunity, for not alot of money to put this to rest.
Thanks surveyor community
Nope, sorry.?ÿ It is like rewarding them for being a moron.
@gisjoel?ÿ
The president of the flat-earth society doesn't have any sway with members, which is kinda the point.?ÿ
90+% of flat earth idiots are pretending. They know better. It??s just an act. A game of ??can you top this??, just trying to out crazy each other.?ÿ
No chance that a functioning adult sincerely believes that the earth is flat. S few exceptions perhaps. But it??s just rants.?ÿ
Flat Earth isn't an evidence based belief, it's a lifestyle choice for people who think contrariness is a personality.?ÿ?ÿ
It's a cult - one of several that have sprung up in recent times, all of them tied to the wave of anti-rationalism, anti-intellectualism, and anti-expertise that has been accelerating, and likely will continue to.
It's a real dopamine hit for someone to continue "confirming" what they "already know" in the face of "the establishment" or "pointy-headed intellectuals". If that's all you got in life, then that's what you're gonna cling to.
The crazy thing is how conspiracy theories cross-pollinate and feed other conspiracy theories - it's a self-perpetuating trend.

Ask William Shatner when he gets back!
I heard his rug flew off and stuck to the window-- blocking the view, and thus unable to confirm.
Thinking of crackpot ideas ... a friend told me at lunch today he went to high school with the guy who later started the chemtrail nonsense.?ÿ The guy was a minor radio show host at the time that "theory" emerged and was also spouting a lot of UFO nonsense to generate interest in his show.?ÿ I met him once and it is quite believable he would come up with that.
No, this radio guy was Chuck Schramek.?ÿ He was on the air for several years.?ÿ I found this description on the web:
I just found some sad news today. Houston-area crackpot and radio personality Chuck Shramek passed away recently.
Chuck Shramek was born December 27, 1950 and died May 23, 2000.
He did a daily newscast on the Stevens and Pruett morning show. His news included mostly odd tidbits from Reuters Oddly Enough and other odd news, including segments from the Art Bell Show and other wild conspiracy theories he would come across. It was always an interesting show, and to break up the monotony of stories about how NASA is collaborating with the Russians to keep the hidden, alien moon base out of the public eye, he occassionally played clips of comedian Bill Hicks. Anyway, the high point of the Stevens and Pruett show was always Chuck's radio cast.
Rest in peace, Chuck.
The weird thing is... I hadn't heard any news about him dying. This just screams cover-up, doesn't it?
@bill93?ÿ
Hadn't heard of him, he sounds a lil kooky. Nothing wrong with that!!
Maybe the best late night radio show was/is Phil Hendrie. His "special island" bit is a classic.?ÿ
Working in Nevada I used to pick up Art Bell late at night driving back to the motel. You're not paranoid if they really are out to get you.?ÿ
