I have been downloading data from our Trimble 5700 receiver with no issues using the Data Transfer utility. Yesterday I had the fortune (can you hear the sarcasm?) of receiving the following message: "The application timed out waiting for a response". I checked all of the settings and the utility is seeing the receiver, but the program is simply timing out. We recently upgraded our TBC license, so I'm wondering if there could be some conflict going on that I'm not aware of? That leads me to my question to the RPLS community: have any of you ever encountered this error before when transferring data using the Trimble Data Transfer Utility?

do you have real com ports on your computer or are you using a USB-to-serial dongle?

I have never run data transfer from inside TBC (you don't say if you do or not), but rather I have it standalone on my PC. I try to keep it upgraded to the latest version.

Oh, now I see that it is a 5700. Are you using the USB download or com port? If one doesn't work, try the other. Last resort, remove the CF card and put it in a card reader.

I'm using the stand-alone Data transfer utility and discovered my problem...the CF card was corrupted...gotta love backups!!!. Guess its back to the field for some more sun! Thanks for the suggestions and possible solutions!
