Long shot,

but does anyone have a copy of the latest firmware (3.48 or newer) for Spectra SP80 GNSS receivers??ÿ

I know theyƒ??ve been discontinued for a few years.?ÿ
I navigate to spectraƒ??s discontinued page >, SP80 > and none of the links work for any of the software, firmware, tools, etc.

?ÿ

Theres two practically brand new SP80 receivers in the office I want to experiment with. Wanted to update and start using them if possible.

thanks?ÿ

Are you sure of that version number?

I've found what appears to be 3.47 from June 2022 here...

Nice!

I thought I read 3.48 on spectra’s website, but maybe I’m wrong.

Either way, this should get me going.

I think the last update on these was in 2016.

Thanks for the website link

Thanks for the help and providing links to the firmware.

I tried for quite a while to find these files, with no luck.

I was able to update the firmware to v3.48 for both sp80's from the links + SD card method.

@mafrank

how do you make it so the alarm for “warranty expired” doesn’t go off every few minutes?

we all know the warranty has expired

i assume it’s like an oil change indicator on a modern vehicle.
there’s a way

That's why mafrank asked about your warranty and serial number above.  If your warranty is expired you're not entitled to the newer firmware.  It's probable that the only way to stop those warnings is to either update your warranty, which you probably can't do since it's end of life, or to go back to the previous firmware version.

@mafrank

it appears as though the warranty is good through 2018, based on the files I pulled from the head.

So, in order for these practically brand-new units to be useful, I’d have to update the firmware to a version from 2018.

I found a web page in Spanish, that has firmware versions 3.10, 3.30, 3.33, 3.35, 3.36, 3.38, and 3.45

i put 3.45 on an sd card, loaded it into both receivers, and now they hook up to the ranger 3 with survey pro

currently taking some test static sessions in the backyard

the warranty was good through 2018 - after reading the log files from the receiver.

When I loaded firmware v3.48, it was programmed to block comms because of the warranty date (pretty cool feature).

Reverting back to firmware v3.45 did the trick - for now.

Hello Fellow Survey Junkies.

The links are dead in this thread. Does anyone happen to have a copy of the file? I have downloaded the 3.47 versions, however feel that I am going to get the warranty alert as noted in this thread.

I am more than a little upset that my multiple receivers and data collectors have been designated "End of Life" by Trimble, in an attempt for everyone to run out and buy their latest, greatest. Planned obsolescence and not too sneaky about it. What's wrong with keeping equipment that still works? Like an old HP48, or a set of Topcon Hiper circa 2008 seem to run keep on keeping on.

Thanks in advance.
