Looking to learn more, which to buy, how to buy, and what to learn about solar panel power. Anyone here use solar panels to power and/or charge 12v batteries?

Thus far it appears no manufactures offer such a solution through "OEM" options. Anyways, looking for info on a set-up like this. This was a post on twitter and UNAVCO re-tweeted and apparently had some input on...

You are going to need at least a small battery to get through interruptions by shadows such as a bird landing on the panel or an animal standing nearby, unless the panel is grossly over sized.

Find the ampere draw of the receiver and pick a panel rated for that current at whatever sunlight you expect.?ÿ Whether you plan for clear or overcast days will make a huge difference in the panel rating needed.
