@StLSurveyor I'm down near Hot Springs AR.
I'd love to compare.
It'd be fun to have you down... There is a Javad Party going on, in Hot Springs, next month.
This would be a great opportunity to get together.

Rumor has it, that the Saturday, AFTER the Thu and Fri training, is open for demos.
Wouldn't it be fun to combine? Come on down.
Fact is, ALL GPS receivers are improving. I'd like to see what the R10 can do.

Thanks
There is a R10LT version:

You might want to check in to that. Trimble is putting out "fully loaded" products but you can't use all them fully unless you buy codes to unlock them. For instance, a machine control display, cb460, can be bought for around $15k to work on just a bulldozer. But for another $10k you can send them the serial number and get a code unlocking other capabilities such as working on other machines. I think the recievers are the same way. I think you can buy one cheaper without having the xfill option turned on. The capability is already built into every piece of equipment, you just have to buy the codes to unlock them....

Too bad I didn't see this two weeks ago. I would love to come down, need the PDUs as well for AR, would be hard to get away during the week. Maybe the Saturday Demo would work though. However, I'm afraid if I show up with the R10 the buyers remorse would be much to handle... and the cards would be stacked against me - but I am sure I would walk away a much smarter user.
Hopefully Shawn will video some of it and put it on You Tube :gammon:

Well, StLSurveyor, let me know if you can come to any of it.
I'd go well out of my way to see how things work, comparing.
There's enough to know, about this subject, that one person is often not current, and proficient with multiple brands... (At least not the latest offering)
Come on down, make new friends, eat good food, learn new things.
Win win win.
That's how I figure it.
Nate
I'd be interested in trying to make the Saturday but I wouldn't have any equipment available to bring.
Regarding the R10LT and the full blown R10... it's NOT just a software switch, it's hardware. We had to take delivery of R10LTs once because they couldn't get the real ones - they all had to go in for physical upgrades. I know a little about what they had to do and it was definitely a lot more than software.

As others stated, there is an R10 and an R10LT, and they are not the same hardware, although it is possible to upgrade. But all R10s are created equal, there are no options or switches. the R8S is another story - everything is optional.
I would also be interested in coming up on that Saturday. I could bring my Trimble R2, for what it's worth.
As persons, who USE this equipment, it's our obligation to stay current... not to stay unaware of what is happening in technology.
Just my professional opinion....
Carry on.

@Shawn Billings. It is being put on by Shawn.
I'm going to be there late Wednesday but have to leave either late Friday or early Saturday morning. Wish I could stay around longer.
@StLSurveyor If you attend, (any or all the training, or just the Saturday demo) You will find that ALL the Javad folks WANT to see what a R-10 can do. We are as in the dark as you, or any body else. We found a good looking ride, and bought it. (Javad) But, if there is any thing BETTER out there, we are mostly SURVEYORS FIRST.
Then, we are connoisseurs of brands, and equipment. But, that plays SECOND FIDDLE to PERFORMANCE.
Anyway, I DON'T work for Javad. But, I'll buy your lunch, if you bring an R-10, and let us see what it can do. We all know what a Javad can do.
Surveyor First, is my motto.
Nate
If that were any other weekend, I would probably be there. I am interested in JAVAD and can use some time in the spa's. However, I'm committed to help cook and sell pork bbq at a church fundraiser.

BBQ pork sounds real good right about now....baked beans and garlic bread....cool beverage....JAVAD who?
Keep us posted of the results. I've been interested in the comparison for a while. We've bought 2 R10's. I've gotten shots that I never thought I would get with great results when checking with a TS, but then there has been times when I got a bad shot or multiple bad shots in a similar canopy environment.
