Yesterday the radio link went from 100% to 0%. Have been having this problem for about a month. Yesterday, it worked fine, and then seemed to go bad a 7AM: coincidence?
Any ideas as to why I am losing link? Off and on every 5 seconds; no reconnect or works fine. The RX LED is not blinking.
Thanks

Possibly another base nearby on the same frequency.

What's happening near your base at 7am? I remember a funny story from our dealer about a customer who couldn't initialize from 11 to 1120 every day, turns out his base was conveniently set up by a road pull out that the UPS guy used for his lunch every day too.

A very careful check of wires, to battery, and to antenna are in order.
They can work for a few hrs, get hot, and go intermitant.

I would look at that. Seems like a month or so back your morning lows started hitting around 80å¡. I don't know which model pdl/adl you have = how old it is, but if you broadcast at 25W in that heat, you could be overheating. Welcome back to the surveying board Helmuth.

It is a good idea to always have an inexpensive radio scanner with you to troubleshoot. It could be that another base is nearby, or someone is using the frequency for voice, which takes precedence over data. At least you can use it to tell if your base radio is actually transmitting

Here is one for $80 on amazon:

Had a similar problem with a R8, turned out to be the base radio that needed to be replaced, tried everything else....
It can be very frustrating to figure out the cause. Sent it in a number of times and they couldn't make it fault out, get it back and it begins to fail. Since the internal radio was replaced no problems. Not saying that's it, but your issue does sound familiar.

I agree, check cables, and if not, probably the radio is going bad. I've had a couple go bad and what you are describing is the same thing we had happen.
