What are the chances that I need to get a solution from OPUS today and I find this? Thought there was to be an outage last weekend.

"Notices

Outage Notification

NGS web site and related infrastructure will be undergoing maintenance starting at 3:00 pm Thursday, September 15, 2016. We expect the maintenance to be complete by Noon, Sunday, September 16, 2016.

Only certain products and services such as the CORS Map, UFCORS, CORS datasheets and the geodetic toolkits will be available during this time. We appreciate your patience during this maintenance window."

So it's back up Saturday or Sunday? I guess I can wait.

Since ufcors is available you can find and download data and do it yourself.

GPS is not an "Only One Solution is Possible" form of surveying.

1/ If nothing else, I can get started on a surveying project or map using the raw position data, as I am first checking the relative positions of my GPSed points. 2/ If OPUS is not working and/or I only have OPUS-RS observations, solving against one CORS may get my final solution. 3/ If I cannot wait, I get several more CORS files and resolve. 4/ Quite often these days I have used my ultra-rapid OPUS solution for my final coordinates. 5/ OPUS files are resubmitted for raid orbit solutions. 6/ OPUS files are broken down for OPUS-RS submission the next day. I may or may not change my project coordinates a smidgeon.

My old first option was occupying a government reference monument. These days I may occupy one of my prior project points if it is close. I have had quite a few small GPS projects in one local township for swimming pool grading plans, which I put on NAVD88 because I can. It costs little to have the GPS run while doing other on site surveying.

What I forgot to add was that some CORS have a link where you can directly download the data from here site. When OPUS has a major malfunction it is necessary to go directly to the source. The nearest CORS is and has been down for an extended time. I have not fully researched it but at least 6 off the PennDOT CORS may be down for the count.

Ignore this post, due to transmit, destination or source errors. It became a double post.

Try this route. Works great as long as your antenna is modeled. Easy as opus except you have to add your own geoid separation to get back to your ortho heights.
