Dear Friends, partners, stakeholders, and colleagues,

"As you may know I am retiring from NGS at the end of April. I have truly enjoyed being an NGS Advisor and working with you over the past 8 years. I will certainly miss NGS and my brain will miss being on the leading edge of geodesy and GNSS.

Now it is time to shift gears...get into better shape and explore the trails.
I have some plans ahead. Next month I am headed to Quito, Ecuador (baring any earthquakes in the next couple weeks) with about 6 other retired Surveyors to explore, and perhaps participate in a GNSS survey at the equator with the university. Hope to do some hiking as well.
I will stay active in the northwest survey groups (OGUG & PLSO) and I do own a modern GNSS receiver so I will do a project now and then."

The above is from a recent email from Mark. He developed the instructional materials for the OPUS Projects class among other things. Whoever
takes his position will have some mighty big shoes to fill - best wishes to you Mark and thank you!!!!

Thanks for the kind words Scott. It will most likely take 4-6 months for NGS to fill the NW Region Geodetic Advisor position. The NGS ideal location for the new Advisor is Portland, but there may be other possibilities too.
