Marking the calendar on this one. NGS will stop accepting new geodetic survey project data on January 13, 2027, as part of the move to the modernized NSRS. They've also said they may decline proposals that look unlikely to be finished before then.
The part that caught me: OPUS Projects 5 stays up through the transition, but OPUS 6 won't be ready when the new system is officially adopted. And OPUS-RS isn't going to be supported at all.
So there's a window, and it's four months wide.
Anyone have project work that has to be in before that date? And has anybody actually gotten a straight answer on what happens to a project that's submitted but not finished processing when the deadline hits?
The other thing I keep wondering about is the gap. If OPUS 6 isn't ready at adoption, what are people planning to use in the meantime?
Came up in this week's Witness Corner.
