I'm hoping you awesome folks here can help me out. I'm looking for a way to track GPS satellite information, such as status, health, outages, and other related information as it applies to surveyors who use GPS for their work (whether it be for live updates or planning). Are there any websites that provide live information with ongoing updates? Do they provide a feed of the information?
Thanks for your help! 🙂
I am willing to bet Paul in PA knows. Years ago some GPS systems would show on the data collector which satellites were "sick".
Coast Guard Site
Check on the GPS Constellation Status while you are there and sign up for GPS notifications and NANUs.
Following is the email you will get daily, it shows 31 active satellites, and a list of recent/active NANUs.
You will get NANUs on a when issued basis.

The next thing to do regularly is to have an active receiver and download the daily ephemeris. GPS planning software usually defaults to the newest ephemeris in your computer. The ephemeris will tell where healthy and unhealthy satellites are in the space constellation, yesterday, today and tomorrow. My planner allows me to include an unhealthy satellite in my planning. The NANUs usually tell you when the outage is expected to be over.

Wendell,
A s̩ance might work also.

That is a good source and I also get NotAM's from the FAA FAA NotAM to when they military is going to jam the GPS signals. Like today they are jamming over by death valley and doesn't quite reach here but I've been in area that was jammed. Also shows which SATs are down.

Wendell,
Is that what you re looking for or need we dig deeper?

I think that's it. I searched for myself to see what was out there and thought maybe I was missing something, so I asked here. I figured someone had a really slick website somewhere that had all kinds of data on satellites, health, etc. Thanks!
So I just got my first email from the NavCen mailing list. When I was still practicing surveying on a daily basis, I never got into this stuff. I was mostly handed the GPS data after being processed by someone that knew how to do it. I focused on the more traditional surveying methods.
That said, I don't really know what I'm looking at. I'm hoping some of you fine folks can provide some guidance. I don't need to know what everything means, so maybe it's best that I explain why I need to know.... I'm trying to build a web application that will grab this information as it becomes available and display it on a page in an organized way. Something that you folks might be interested in viewing from time to time. So I don't really need to know all the ins and outs of the data, just how to display it properly.
Maybe it's a dumb question and I just need to display it exactly as the email shows it, but pretty it up a bit. 🙂
Any help is greatly appreciated.
