Hi
My work load is mostly cadastral with some Engineering. I recently purchased a topcon hiper sr to add to my ever increasing equipment list.
I have the ability to do network rtk but mostly use it for post processing.
I've run out of demos and need to purchase software. I've been looking at gnss solutions. Demo only does L1. Buying a dongle for $1000 will open up L2. Only problem is i believe this software is no longer being updated.
Does anyone use it and what do you see as the viability of buying this knowing it is already legacy software?
Thanks

I see the viability of buying it as being worth considerably less than $1,000.00.
I just bought the dongle for the L2 at a little less than a G it was better for me than 3G for TBC. There is a glitch where you have to do the apply to all button on imported rinex files but other than that it is a real easy to use program that imports cors stations with ease for quick baselines. And you might be able to work a deal for the dongle anyway. I bought TBC base version for $500 for other features I wanted.

Just out of curiosity, doesn't Topcon have some kind of processing software? Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't GNSS Solutions an Ashtech product? If it was up to me, and I only had one type of receiver.to deal with, I would stick with software designed for that receiver.
On a slightly different note, has anyone around here tried using the NGS ADJUST software? Can it be used with just RINEX files or does it need pre-processed vectors?
I was just wondering why I've never seen any mention of it around here.

ADJUST is strictly for adjustments. PAGES-NT is the NGS vector processor. From what I've seen, the learning curve for each is steep.
I've been using GNSS Solutions for about 10yrs for L1 to post process and it is awesome.
Don't know what it would do for RTK except for analysis, edit, and some stuff that have not yet to venture.
At this stage in my career, I will wait until the network reaches me and I will invest in one rover.

not sure if GNSS sol. is still available?I have been using the v3.xx on & off for several years now. it's a great product. easy learning curve. you just need an updated rinex converter now & then so no errors when importing it into GNSS sol.
Topcon tools demo version allows processing of up to 5 points indefinitely.
Yes, topcon do produce magnet tools. I have used this in the past but at around $3500, the ashtech software seems more attractive as long as it has a future.
How would i find the demo of topcon tools?
I can email it to you if you like but it's 22mb. Shouldn't take too long. Or it may be still available on the Topcon website for download.

It bounced back from your email there the file is too big. If you create an account on the Topcon website and go to the following link it is there for download.

Thanks Totalsurv
I'll give it a go.
GNSS Solutions is a great program, with the one exception of importing rinex files from Hiper receivers, and other non Ashtech receivers. I worked with a person who shall remain nameless at their request, who helped me figure out this import issue, and after that, everything worked out pretty good. I have attached a PDF of the post where we found the issue and work around.
I use Topcon Tools V8.2 for my post processing, and still double check on occasion with GNSS Solutions. It is a good program. I believe that you can do a yearly subscription for about $500 for Magnet Tools, which is a little easier than the $2500-$300 or so for the purchase price.
If you are going to run something in demo mode why not at least demo the latest and use Magnet Office Tools? https://www.magnet-enterprise.com/ You can also upgrade/trade in your Topcon Tools to Magnet Office Tools Solutions for like $350 or something like that.
On the copy I had downloaded of GNSS Solutions it was full L1 L2 for the first 30 days not just L1 like a lot of the other software that is how I knew I liked it and wanted to keep the L2 before I bought it.
A future solution might be OPUS Projects, if they ever allow OPUS RS data to be imported.
