Can someone convert a geoid OSGM02 for me 🙂
I would like to use it in starnet.
Which likes...
- *.ght StarGeoid Geoid Height Files
- *.byn Natural Resources Canada (*.byn)
- *.bin US National Geodetic Survey (*.bin)
The formats I have are
- OSGM02.GGF, Trimble (TBC)
- osgm02.gff, Topcon (MAGNET/Tools)
- osgm02.bos, Microsurvey (?)
- OSTN02_OSGM02_GB.txt, TXT format from Ordnance Survey, eg "470745,373000,671000,98.118,-63.437,50.649,1", web
- OSTN02_NTv2.gsb, OSTN02_NTv2.txt, OSTN02 NTv2 data
- Hydromagic (GeoidConverter(does not work)) OSGM02_Mainland.geo
Dropbox File (Private or Invalid)
Thanks
William
The *.bos file is what you want for Starnet v8,
Unless you have an older version?
I don;t know if Starnet supported OS grid in previous versions.
using version 8.1, and osgm02.bos
"ERROR -- Station **** Outside of Geoid Model Boundary"
The same error as specifying an invalid file.
Project Options> Modelling> Select Specific Geoid File
Only options are *.ght, *.byn, *.bin
I have checked the coordinates are correct numerous times and also tried specifying them as Geodetic Position.
Type of Adjustment : 3D
Project Units : Meters; DMS
Coordinate System : OSGB-GPS-2002
ETRF89 Referenced OSGB (ETRF89OSGB via OSTN02)
Hello,
On your computer you'll have the directory C:ProgramDataMicroSurveyStarNetV8Mapping or very similar, and in there you should have another directory called "UK", which should contain four files. Copy those files up one level to the main Mapping directory and you should be good to go. A grid shift file is required on top of the geoid for that particular coordinate system.
If you don't have those files, you can download them here http://helpdesk.microsurvey.com/index.php?/default_import/Knowledgebase/Article/View/984
Jacob
select "all files" from the file types drop down, the required BOS files are in the Mapping/UK folder

It is working now!
I moved the 4 files as suggested and configured
Select Specific Geoid File: osgm02.bos
incidentally osgm02.bos and osgm02_GB.bos are identical
also ostn02.bos and ostn02_GB.bos differ only by a few initial characters.
I have another geoid file for my collection! 🙂
Thanks for you help
