Hi,

I am Praveel from Fiji. I have been working in Civil Engineering & Construction industry for just over 20 years now and am just setting up my business in this field in Fiji.

I have mostly used Leica instruments in field and collecting same for my business now. I recently purchased a used set of Leica ATX1230+ GNSS base and rover set from a local surveying company.

The issue is that the rover is not able to connect to the base for an RTK fix. Both the radios/modems installed are Pacific Crest PDL GFU15-2 and I have flashed them with the latest available firmware.

I have researched about these radios and found that these are receive only units. The surveying company where I bought these from, said these Leica units were fully functional with these GFU15 radios but the guy who was using it in the field has migrated.

I have been trying with all different settings, have gone over most of the Leica documention (over 2000 pages) but still can't get the base to talk to the rover. Individually the base and rover track between 15 - 20 satellites each and they have the latest available firmware and almanacs.

The issue is with the configuration-sets for the PDL GFU15-2 radios which hinders communication between the base & rover and since these are old devices, Leica does not support them anymore.

Can someone please show me direction into which I might get some answers to resolving this problem. Thanks you.

Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year.

The majority of the members in this group are from America and many of them are extremely knowledgeable about all matters GNSS.

It seems to me that the problem you have is buying older equipment that is no longer supported either in firmware updates or tech support. Sadly, it sounds like you bought something that you may never be able to use. If I were you, I would take it back to the place you bought it from and ask for a refund if they told you that it was functional equipment.

Para,

I replied to a similar question last week (see GNSS 1200 configuration base rover). I'm guessing your issue is more hardware related since it appears that the GFU15-2 is indeed receive only. The base needs a radio cable of sending. It sounds like you did not get the entire kit.

P.s. Where in Fiji are you located? Years ago my wife and I were thinking of migrating there. Let me know if you ever need a field hand.
