A few years back, I picked up three Wild T-3's to get the one I really wanted.?ÿ I can justify having one by citing the history and invoking the cool factor exception, but I seem to be losing the argument that having 3 is three times as cool.?ÿ I love my wife, I love my wife, I love my wife........ ??ÿ
I've posted two links below to photos of the two that I have for sell.?ÿ Both have 25x, 30x, and 40x eyepieces, light adapters, inverted image telescopes, and are graduated in degrees and appear to have spent at least the latter portion of their lives with the Defense Mapping Agency.

Several are listed on Ebay for 2K, if you look at completed listings, they tend to go for about half that much.?ÿ?ÿIf you're interested make me an offer.?ÿ You can reach me by sending a private message through my profile.
I would love to have one, but Christmas is coming and that takes $$$ priority.
(BTW you repeated the same DB link)
?ÿ
side question: why did you choose the one you are keeping? what are the differences?
I fixed the link issue by renaming the files and combining both instruments in the same link.
Here's a photo of the one I'm keeping.
This one has tubes attached to both the top and bottom of the telescope that are fitted with light sources.?ÿ There's an opaque plate inside with a cross-hair that would be back-lit by the light source.?ÿ I haven't found any documentation, but I believe that they are for rough sighting the instrument at night when the normal black sighting posts would be difficult to see and use.?ÿ When I first got it I posted a photo and Dave Ingram and a few others tried to find one like it or documentation of the feature with no luck.
In trying to figure out the purpose of the modifications on this T-3, I found that Wild would apparently make all kinds of modifications to their basic instruments if requested to meet the client's needs.?ÿ I doubt that this one is a one-off design but it's certainly a rare bird in a small flock.
I stow all my collectibles where the bride never sees them.

I her defense, there's?ÿ a whole corner of my office (in the house) occupied by antique tripods, a few old Kern theodolites, a few levels, a Wild T2 with the plastic/foam shipping case, and 3 Wild T3's.?ÿ She just zeros in on them because they're big and heavy and oh yeah....."Why do you need three of these".....I suppose she has a point.
You said "Kern" where Vern is involved in the conversation.?ÿ He's a Kern fan(atic) - I imagine he'll be hitting you up for more info about those any minute now....
Looking at your pics, I can understand why you think the T-3s may have some connection to the DMA....
So Stephen Ward ?ÿwhy don't you ask your wife how many shoe's she has and if she needs them all?
My wife ask me about my instruments "ONE" time. ?ÿAfter that she has said nothing and I still have them all.

PS ?ÿyes the tube is for night lighting. It sounds like you are not sure of that fact. Take the instrument out at night
and see how hard (without the lighting) it is ?ÿto come on the target(time yourself).
Then use the lighting and time yourself again.

But do you still have the wife?
eapls2708?ÿ Yes I still have the wife. Been with here since 1990 and married since 1996. NO PROBLEM

I've used your tactic with my gun collection, but in truth with the T3's I always intended to get rid of at least one and possibly both of the extras.?ÿ Her fussing just pushed me to make the effort to take photos and post them.?ÿ Ultimately I'll just turn around and find some more unique items to add to the collection.:-) 😉
My wife has hundreds of books, no luck getting her to give any of them up.
Stephen,
The T-3's were and still are great instruments. I have 2 and my wife still says i don't need 2 of them. I have turned a lot of angles with a T-3. Very accurate instruments. I am sure someone will get the ones you have for sale.

Sadly, I looked it up before posting and still got it wrong.?ÿ It's one of those that I've seen wrong so often that I have trouble getting it right. ??ÿ
