You may want to keep it for times when the network does not work . I have been in areas that cell will not work or the VRS system is down . ALso you can do static when you see that the VRS results are sometimes a couple tenths out and you need tighter results .
I got my base laying around aswell used it a couple times for opus and static .

When this occurs a good RTK bridge is what is needed. see www.field2finish.net's website. They have one of the best rtk bridges out there the M3.
