Good condition older 5" gun up for sale. Gun powers on, turns angles, all buttons work. Unit was picked up from buying out a retired surveyor. No known issues, but has not been factory calibrated since 10/10/2004. I charged the battery this morning and checked out several functions of the gun.

$600 obo, plus shipping.

I believe so. I have looked through the manual that is with it and inside the case trying to find a date, but I do not see one.

I have successfully doubled angles a few times with it just testing it out at the office. Everything seems to work fine, we just don't have a use for it.

That's what came to my mind when I saw the name of the weapon.

Years ago, in a different lifetime, I was backpacking in Africa, and at a bar on the shores of lake Malawi someone posed the question (not knowing the answer) "What is the theme song of Top Gun?". There were around 50 people there and after about 20 minutes of deliberation it became apparent than nobody knew. Then someone said "Ask the barman, he'll know". And the barman, a local native chap, did indeed know the answer. We all groaned. So the moral of the story is, "always ask the barman".

It has been forever since I had seen the 'Top Gun' which I got to use for a short time back then.

Past the name, the optics on that instrument stand out in my recollection. If it were more magnification, or

some type of tinted glass that added better contrast, it really stood out when compared to the Topcon total stations of the time.

Our shop keeps one or two Nikons in the shelves for ... ??ÿ They are fairly reliable instruments.
