Of course. I have never missed one going back to the first in Silicon Valley. I submitted three proposals for presentations, hopefully they approve one or two.?ÿ

@mike1202 I still have vague memories of being in an "ice bar", wearing a fur coat (hat and gloves), drinking some vile viscous vodka concoction, at 3:00 am with some guys who had just purchased one of the first Trimble mobile mapping systems and the Trimble geospatial team.?ÿ ?ÿ?ÿ

I have never attended one, but the price is pretty steep for a sales pitch? Or am I missing something?

Not a sales pitch at all, although of course it is mostly about Trimble equipment and software. The presentations I give are definitely not a sales pitch, at least not for Trimble. Maybe for my services... ????ÿ

Yes, it is a lot of $$$, but definitely worth it to me. Apart from a lot of useful presentations, it is also great to see others and find out what they are doing.?ÿ

Hmmm...maybe this is a sales pitch for the conference...

I just found out that the 2022 SIRGAS meeting, which I really wanted to go to, is the same three days as the Trimble conference. I went to the SIRGAS meeting in Aguascalientes, Mexico in 2018, missed the one in Rio in 2019 because I was too busy, and then last year it was virtual from Lima, Peru. This year it is in Santiago, Chile. I really wanted to go because I lived in Chile three different times for a total of more than 3 years, and I have had a few projects recently in South America, so SIRGAS is of more than passing interest to me.?ÿ?ÿ

But Dimensions takes priority.

@john-hamilton I would go with Chile, just saying... I've hung out with plenty of drunk guys in Vegas. That would be a no brainer for me.?ÿ

I got two of my three proposals approved for workshops...

EDM Calibration and Geometric Reduction of Distances

Using a Relational Database to Store Survey Observations and Results

The one that was not approved was titled "ITRF, WGS83, and NAD83". I think this is really needed to clarify some misconceptions that I hear from clients and other surveyors. And with the upcoming new datums....

I'm going, and this year I'm presenting as well. My presentation is called "Using Trimble Access Pipelines to Improve Accuracy and Efficiency in Pipeline Construction Surveying". Probably only of interest to pipeline surveyors but feel free to come heckle me.

The drinks don't flow at Dimensions like they did in 2010; you don't see open tabs in the bars any longer unless you happen to be in a small group (like with your dealer rep). Which is fine I'm getting too old for that stuff anyhow. In 2018 there were sponsored events pretty much every night.

Back in the day there was a (former) senior executive on the geospatial side of the house who use to overindulge at conferences to the point of, let's say, exposing?ÿ the company to undue liability.?ÿ ?ÿ

This could have opened some eyes as to what was going on at events.?ÿ ?ÿ
