Hi all,

I'm trying to get proficient with utilizing point clouds derived from drone photogrammetry.?ÿ I have Carlson Point Cloud Advanced but could really use some in-depth training with working with point clouds in general or, better yet, something tailored specifically for the Carlson software.?ÿ Anyone have some leads or be able to point me in the right direction??ÿ

A lot depends on what you're trying to do/extract from those point clouds.  Two programs that I recommend are Virtual Surveyor and CloudCompare.

Virtual Surveyor is a great option for generating linework from the point cloud for use with CAD-based software, and also has features for analyzing volumes, slopes, water, etc.  There is a trial of the full version, followed by monthly plans that offer limited features for free, up to the full version for a price.  The website has a number of useful tutorial videos.

CloudCompare is great for manipulating the point cloud itself or for comparing one point cloud to another.  I tend to use it for tracking areas of change in a construction site by comparing clouds from different dates, and also for subsampling my clouds down to a more manageable size.  It is free to use.  Tutorial videos can be found here.

@hayedid Thanks for that info. I'm hoping to find something more than tutorial videos, especially for software that I'm not using, if you know of any training/classes for working with point clouds let me know.
