Is anyone heading to Salem at the end of the month for the Oregon exam?
My son will be there.
It's been a long time since anybody said something that made me feel young. If he wants a short chat to wind down I'm easy to spot. The tattoo in my avatar covers most of my left forearm..
Good Luck Tom! Though I doubt you need it very much!
Oregon was probably my most difficult state exam to date. I drove up there the evening before, then from Fresno, got in and couldn't sleep. I think I got about 5 hours. In the exam, there were about 12-16 of us and the exam took the full time. Once it was done, I was back on the road.
Not that I would recommend my method. When I took the exam, two friends and I spent the night before at a Salem strip club. Two of the three passed both the national and state specific. If you don't know the info the night before an all-night study session is not going to help.
Thank you folks. At this point I am spending time getting my references and brain in sync. I think I'll be fine...
My 41 pounds of books and I will be at PDX in 2 hours. I'm just nervous enough to know I'm ok. It feels good to push myself again... hoping for good results for everyone else testing this weekend...
Good Luck!
That was intense. Now the fun part..
Tom, the waiting is never fun. You did just fine. Relax and go home. Take care.

My son tells me that there were a great many typos, mispellings, and vague phrasings in the questions, and that some of the diagrams were of poor resolution. Is that what you found?
I had issue with the clarity of one diagram, but it was on the order of what I routinely encounter. There were some typos but nothing that changed the meaning of any questions. All in all it was a good test, but could have used a little more polish.
In my opinion it was a comprehensive butt kicking. The biggest obstacle was the volume of work and length of the test. I had just enough time to go back and make sure I missed no pages of questions, then stare blankly for about 3 or 4 minutes.
I am currently waffling between fairly confident and praying the score keepers think like me. The wait never gets easier...
When I wrote it in '98 it was a 2 hour affair and I used every second of the time. I left the exam room completely wrung out.
Mark,
Hope things went well for your son. Just got my good news..

Congratulations. And welcome to the club. Maybe I'll see you at the PLSO in January?
Maybe so. I've been trying to decide where to go this year.
Thank you by the way. I'm still in shock. As tough as it was I expected a squeaker...
My son got his letter today. He also passed.
Tell him congrats for me. Would have loved to meet and greet but it was an all business day for me. I'm certain it was for him as well.
