Great video and the dude narrating sounded like a used car salesman with "rapid fire" on full blast. 😎

Thinking if you asked that little feller to say "Potomac" 100 times he'd say it 100 different ways. And maybe none of them the way you've always heard it.

Unwittingly, your Holiness, you have provided a regular poster with additional ammunition apprutennent the "idiocy" of the PLSS.
I hope I arrive in Hell before (you know who) so I can listen to him trying to convince Lucifer the boundaries of Hades are incorrect because they were established using RTK. 😉

I was always curious about the circular border between Del. and Pa.

Must be fun establishing the radius point.

Thanks.

Here's the wikipedia article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twelve-Mile_Circle

The non-fiction book Measuring the Line goes into some detail about this circle, along with a good explanation of Mason and Dixon and their famous line.

The Twelve-Mile Circle is an approximately circular arc which forms most of the boundary between the Commonwealth of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pennsylvania&apos ;">Pennsylvania and the State of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delaware&apos ;">Delaware in the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States&apos ;">United States. It is not actually a circle, but rather a combination of different circular arcs that have been feathered together.

Wow an approximate circle. Some kind of alien spiral thingy. 🙂 Glad I never had to deal with it.
Thanks for the heads up.

It'll start like that, then someone will show up and mention the elevation differences in the seven levels of inferno can't be facilitated by a standard SPC and truly needs an LDP to accurately describe it, and the eons old fight will be on, and the place won't be fit to live in.

One of the first gps projects I worked on in 1986 was to determine where the arc circle boundary between PA and DE actually was. We had a coordinate for the center of the courthouse in New Castle, and then we set pairs of points near the arc at places where they wanted to know where it was located. We used the pairs to traverse to points on the actual arc (i.e. 12 miles from the courthouse). I actually got a speeding ticket on Artificial Island (mentioned in the video) issued by the security at the nuclear plant there.
