Take care Paden, all this first hand knowledge comes with a cost.
It happens to us all, today had to send a 7am text to my helper to let him know to not expect me as after this weeks extra treks up and down steep hills Northwest from Cornett and across briar covered scrub brush and bocatthicket parts of Marion County had me bleeding and caused me to have severe leg cramps from toes to hips and produce knotty parts in between where lifting my legs brings the pain and because of all that I am remaining too medicated to pay attention to our tasks of the day.
This evenings round will be for you.............
Wow, man, hope you feel better soon! We need more Uncle Paden stories (when you feel up to it). 🙂

Aw hell Wendell, Unc will be OK in no time. He'll get fixed real quick like. Then he can continue to write short stories about how all the Dr.'s gave him special treatment so as to boot him out for groping all the Nurses.?ÿ ??ÿ
Wishing you the best.

Get well soon brother!
Wow!! hang in there Paden, including you in our prayers.
I've spent the last few months dealing with a similar issue (not for me, family member), sure got my eyes opened, do what they tell you!!!
Thank all of you for your well wishes, they really do mean a lot to me.
I've still got some numbness and weakness on my left side.?ÿ I keep running into my left arm because it's never where I think it's at.?ÿ When I first got out of recovery it took a couple of hours to realize I couldn't read.?ÿ I could see letters but nothing made sense.?ÿ It looked like "Viking alphabet" to me.?ÿ I popped a cork and was raising hell...I mean...how important is it for you to be able to read??ÿ They had to sedate me.?ÿ
And I couldn't get up and I couldn't swallow.?ÿ I now know what hell is like.?ÿ I slowly got better, but my reading is still slow.?ÿ It has taken a good half hour to type this.?ÿ If I didn't back up to fix the mistakes it would look like Ty Olinghouse typed it...
got to go.?ÿ thank all of you for your well wishes.?ÿ I dodged a bullet on this one.
Get well soon!
Paden - I too wish you well.?ÿ You still have lots of stories to share!
Get better soon -
Ken
You realize, of course, that you're the most favoritest participant of this forum, right?
So, don't bail on us man, do as you're told (I know, I know....) and get well.
P.S. - find an editor and compile the stories.
Best wishes!

May your recovery be quick and complete, paden.?ÿ Glad to read that you haven't lost your sense of humor in all this!?ÿ
?ÿ
F@#$ Yes! you're gonna' be alright! ?ÿBunch of other people have been through surgery and done alright, and so will you.?ÿ
Get well whenever you're ready .. you're burnin' daylight. ?ÿ?ÿ ??ÿ
DAMM man, that's one heck of a story. ?ÿReminds me of my buddy the cattle buyer. ?ÿHe had major surgery at the Mayo Clinic that involved his heart a few years ago. ?ÿHe takes great pride in reporting that the Mayo staff informed him that they had worked on many cattle buyers but he was the first they had ever found that had a heart inside when opened up.
Keep fighting' the good fight.
Take care and get well. Prayers for you and your family from me and mine.
Wish you the best for full recovery.?ÿ Haven't been here much recently, first I knew.

Glad to hear that you're still with us!
Paden,
It's OK to write slowly. ?ÿMost of us are half fast communicators. ?ÿThe absorption rate decreases with age.

That's really funny because I never saw any critter in that hospital?ÿto which?ÿI would ever attribute the word "nurse"...but I have to admit I gave them a pretty hard time.?ÿ
I won't go into too much detail but my immediate care eventually required the use of a medieval torture instrument known as a catheter.?ÿ I was miserable and consented to the painfully distasteful procedure.?ÿ And then it took almost two hours to get the doctor's OK...Constantly buzzing the "nurse" did little.
I took matters into my own hand (pun intended).?ÿ With chest tubes, a lumen and more monitors than Mt. St. Helens I scooted myself off the bed as far as I could get...just far enough to get my feet almost on the floor at the bed's edge.?ÿ I then took one?ÿglorious seven-minute long?ÿpiss on the floor.?ÿ At that moment I realized I might yet live.
I buzzed the nurse and she replied "were still trying to get your catheter orders".?ÿ I told her it was too late; they needed to send housekeeping up to clean up my room because I had just pissed on the floor.?ÿ It was a big deal.?ÿ I got restrained to my bed.?ÿ I realized what Cool Hand Luke must have felt like spending the night "in the box". My nurse was way too happy with herself.?ÿ I was reduced to baring my teeth and guttural growls when she was around.?ÿ I think it was about that time I got a shot and immediately went "night-night".
My dear wife was at my rescue the next morning and raised hell for me.?ÿ They dropped the cuffs, but I was so medicated I couldn't have stood up if I tried.?ÿ?ÿMy better-half knew it was time to call in the artillery.?ÿ She convened a gathering of all available?ÿClan Cash menfolk (from as?ÿfar away as Phoenix) to?ÿcoax me to a calmer atonement.?ÿ
They were all fussing?ÿover me and really pissing me off when the room got deathly quiet.?ÿ All eyes turned to the door and there were my two older bothers, Cole and Holden.?ÿ Cole hasn't been in Oklahoma for close to thirty years.?ÿ Some Clan Cash menfolk had heard only of Cole in lore.?ÿ The silent sea of humanity parted and Cole came and took my hand.?ÿ A strong grip for a man near eighty.
"I'm missing a golf game just to come kick your ass", he said as he squeezed my hand.
"You and who's army Reverend?"?ÿ I replied.?ÿ?ÿ Family is good to have.?ÿ I told Cole I had imagined only a funeral would get him back to Oklahoma.?ÿ He said that could be arranged....Family is good to have.
And the topper was?ÿwe actually had our bother Holden inside a hospital.?ÿ Not a?ÿnatural act at all.?ÿ When?ÿwe were kids he couldn't even pick up dog-poop in the yard without fainting.?ÿ Needles and blood are way too high a bar for Holden to?ÿface.?ÿ But he did.?ÿ Just to come see his kid bother.?ÿ I was humbled.?ÿ I also had to promise not to piss in the floor again.
And then?ÿall the Cash menfolk left me to heal in quiet.?ÿ I found out later they all hit the Golden Corral Buffet after they left.?ÿ I was a little miffed I was probably?ÿmissing out on some good fried chicken.?ÿ I was left with a rather bland?ÿplate of "food" courtesy the?ÿcardiac unit.?ÿ Not a grain of salt anywhere on that damned floor.?ÿ And on the plate was a small cube of something that was meant to look like "meat".?ÿ I couldn't tell if it was fish or fowl.?ÿ I took a bite.
It was both... ??ÿ
?ÿ
Attaboy, Unk...give 'em hell ?
