My brother in law got 34" of snow on Christmas Day. That was until midnight last night...then the snowfall picked up. ?ÿ18" more between midnight and 7:00 AM this morning.?ÿ
?ÿ
I hope he has a snow blower and warm clothes.
And I'm glad the snow has avoided us so far. I'm too old for that stuff.
I hope he has a snow blower and warm clothes
?ÿMore likely a front end loader and whiskey.?ÿ

A buddy of mine was stationed at Ft. Knox in '77 (I think) as part of some "mechanized battalion"...they basically operated heavy construction equipment.?ÿ He personally operated a front-loader.?ÿThey were all mobilized to fly to NY to help dig the state out of the immense snowfall that year.
His stories about the?ÿ'urban' cleanup are hilarious.?ÿ With 5 or 6 feet of snow you couldn't really tell where the streets were at...let alone any cars that were parked or abandoned under the snow..and even a few houses.
Basically he said the US Army tore up more than they helped.?ÿ He said gas meters were a pain when they would snag one.?ÿ His favorite was the fire hydrants.
Very little of it made it to the national news back then...and knowing him I'm SURE there was plenty of ingestible anti-freeze involved. ??ÿ

After the family Fourth of July demolition derby it at his "compound", this is child's play. ?ÿ
That's normal here. Forcasting another 2-4ft of Lake Effect tonight. I use 1-ton Dodge RAM with 9.5' V-plow and Skid steer. Areas around here average 150 to 400 inches of snow per year. It's very light powdered snow. Great for snowmobile, not good for working.
The closest we got to a white Christmas was frosty conditions due to the 30 degree overnight temps.
Puyallup got about 3 inches; the most snow fall, on Christmas, for a long long time...
Y'all are nuts. This is what us Southern Folk consider winter.?ÿ ??ÿ
That is bordering on "hide in A/C" temperatures! Turn the thermostat down and save on them heating bills!
Jeez, it was only -5?ø on the truck thermometer while I was out working this morning. Didn't think it was all that bad. Wind chills got down to something like 10 or 15 below. Then it got chilly.
Learned all about that lake-effect foolishness near Lake Michigan 40 years ago. ?ÿLeft a great job because I could not adapt to putting up with that crap.
Current Lake Effect in Tug Hill (NY) - the numbers in photo mark feet,?ÿnot inches of snow.
If your a snowmobiler your loving that photo of "the Hill" right now. Gonna be busy up there this weekend for sure.
