Still raining here on on the south side of Indy. ?ÿAnd, no surveying in inclement weather here hardly ever. ?ÿI am most definitely a fair weather surveyor.

We (Portland) had about a quarter inch in early January and everybody stayed home for 2 days. 45?ø and raining today.?ÿ

Two to three inches on the ground and still snowing with big fluffy flakes.?ÿ The problem is that it rained lightly most of yesterday thus putting down a nice glaze of ice below the snow.?ÿ Authorities are reporting numerous slide offs of vehicles into the ditches and a couple of overturned vehicles.?ÿ The snow you see won't kill you, but the ice underneath can.

@holy-cow?ÿ

We've got the thin glaze of ice but no snow yet.?ÿ The weather people say it's on its way.?ÿ I hope you've got all your animules cared for and fed.?ÿ The only livestock I have to worry about is tucked up safe and warm at my feet.?ÿ I don'r guess you have that option.?ÿ 😉

@paden-cash?ÿ

Overfed the bovines yesterday while the drizzle was filling the air.?ÿ But, I haven't walked to the carport yet to offer fresh feed for the feline critters.?ÿ They are gathered in the kitchen window out of the snow and wind casting hateful glances at any human in sight.?ÿ Tell them to go find a warm mouse and they turn, raise their tails and push their little sphincters to the window pane.

I suspect my definition of 'interesting' conditions differ somewhat from yours. Here when it stays cold and snows, that's most definitely good. When it warms up and rains? Most definitely bad, which makes for varying degrees of suck, from sort of sucks to totally sucks, just stay home. It's these varying degrees of suck that limits the California invasion to only half of the year, not long enough to tempt them into buying property and drive prices into the stratosphere, which is the bright side of the suck.

@williwaw?ÿ

Looks like I got out just in time to miss a really big suck. Last I spoke with someone they had already had 50+" in Juneau and it wasn't even Christmas yet, then they got more snow, then mid January thaw and rain, rain, rain. My former house was just out of Zone X (which along with a piece of Zone AE was onto the property, but the house and vents were high enough that Flood Insurance was not needed, but sure wouldn't hurt to have it just in case), but I would think that with the amount of snow already there and the amount of rain they were supposed to get that there might have been an issue with that house.

@richard-germiller When it comes to Juneau's winter weather not to mention housing prices, that's a league of suck all it's own.?ÿ

@williwaw?ÿ

That's very true, but I got the good end of the suck on the housing prices

Day two of no school for nearly all schools in our area is being announced already for tomorrow.?ÿ This will also help to ease some of the strain in fighting the spread of Covid.?ÿ Gives most students and school employees a bit of a break.

Going to drop to 11 F with about 15 mph winds out of the NNE tonight and basically stay close to that all day tomorrow.?ÿ No kilt wearing anywhere near here.

@holy-cow?ÿ

It's going to be a three dog night down here also.?ÿ I had all my "below zero" chores done early before the snow started.?ÿ Nothing left to do but curl up in a blanket and read a good book or something...TV leaves me bored to tears.

Working from home today, in Austin, Tx. Looking out my backdoor, across the backyard, at white rooftops. It's not what I would call snow, mostly sleet. Current temp. is 31 degrees Fahrenheit.?ÿ

The ground is soaked with about 2 inches of rain so I'm sure it's a sloppy mess out there today. Think I'll stay in here where it's warmer and a whole lot dryer.

@squirl?ÿ

Would be a nice time to check on Ma and Pa back on the farm.?ÿ Snow has drifted so east to west roads are in bad shape.?ÿ Nearly all schools are closed today.

Day 3 of almost all schools being closed.?ÿ Heck, it's a sunny 15 F right now and effectively no breeze.?ÿ Was in the single digits at school bus time with many roads still drifted shut.?ÿ Might actually hit 28 F midafternoon.?ÿ If our school was open today, tonight's home basketball games would have been with a school 80 miles distant with kids who may live as much as 30 miles from their school.

Before today we already had about 18" of snow on the ground. Received about 15" new snow today, and still snowing. Just blew the brakes in my plow truck 2010 RAM3500 Cummins, master cylinder went. To make things worst, I didn't notice it until I backed over my own mailbox.
