Very sad, I cannot count the number of times I have seen the Allman Brothers play. When they were getting started the would play at the Jr. College, high schools Jr/Sr and at Piedmont Park on Sundays for free. We use to wonder why they hadn't made it big. Well a few years latter they were one of the biggest bands in the world. Well deserved.

Traumatic end for a great musician.
Mountain Jam - Eat a Peach has always been a favorite.

In +/- 1972 I went to a nightclub off 10th Street in Atlanta (Richard's if you remember it), I forget who the band was that I went to see but the Allman Brothers came out instead. I think the cover charge was $5. One of, if not the best, concert I ever saw and was at a table about 15 feet from the band.

See Little Feat perform O Atlanta the first time live at Richards. The same year saw the "Boss" at the The Grand Ballroom. The Allman Brothers were like home cooking. We had some great home cooking. We have lost Duane, Dickey and now Bruce. I just don't have the heart to see Greg solo. It was the entire band that made them great.

Allman Brothers Band drummer Butch Trucks fatally shot himself in front of his wife in Florida, according to law enforcement records.

A police dispatcher noted that Trucks‰Ûª suicide Tuesday night in West Palm Beach was witnessed by his wife, Melinda, the Daily Mail reported, citing police reports.

The wife called 911 to frantically report that her ‰ÛÏhusband just shot himself‰Û with a pistol.

That call for help came at 6:02 p.m. Tuesday from the couple‰Ûªs waterfront Villa Del Lago condo complex. The 911 call identified the victim as ‰ÛÏClaude,‰Û Trucks‰Ûª given name.

The legendary drummer, 69, had been dogged by financial woes for years, The Mail reported, citing local court records.

In 2011, Trucks sold his Palm Beach home for $2 million ‰ÛÓ even though it might have been worth twice that ‰ÛÓ perhaps to settle an $800,000 mortgage.

The condo where he died Tuesday was purchased for $500,000 in 2014.

The IRS last year filed a pair of liens against that condo, looking for Trucks to pay $540,000 in back taxes from 2013 and 2014.

Trucks was an original 1969 member of the Jacksonville-rooted Allman Brothers, along with Duane Allman, Gregg Allman, Berry Oakley, Dickey Betts and Jai Johanny ‰ÛÏJaimoe‰Û Johanson.

He‰Ûªs survived by his wife, four children and four grandchildren.

Rolling Stone magazine named the 100 best drummers in rock history last year and pegged Trucks ‰ÛÓ and bandmate Johanson ‰ÛÓ at No. 71.

Wow. Sorry to hear that. In my mind if you've made it that many years just sit back and let nature take its course, no matter the circumstances. But evidently logic leaves a troubled soul quickly.

Sad to hear.
