Ring Ring

Me Hello?

To update your free Google Listing Press one...

I think these calls are coming from MANY other sources, trying to get a clean data base, to advertise to. Or something like that.

It seems they call me 3x a week, to update my free Google listing....

Some of these sales people have a kevlar soul!

Good for Scott. I say basically the same thing. Both of my phones are registered on the Do Not Call List and I still get telemarketing calls. I usually say something like. "This phone is ***king on the Do Not Call list. Don't ***cking call me again. If you don't want to hear this ***king kind of language, don't ***king call me..." and then hang up.

I really do keep an air horn nearby, and use it.....

Is that really necessary?

It is only a phone call from someone who already has a bad job.

Most of the calls I get are a machine, anyway, I can yell all I want , it doesn't care.

Unfortunately, air horns (as well as cussing, yelling, etc) has little, if any, effect on most telemarketers. The loud sound just does not carry very well and is more annoying to the "sender' than receiver.

A few years ago, I did the air horn thing at a telemarketer. He calmly told me how well the noise did not travel.

You can't do that with a business line unless you don't want new clients to call.

The people on the phone are minimum wage earners, the numbers are dialed by a computer. The miserable sot on the other end of the line has no idea that the last time the computer dialed your number you blew your horn. He hates what he is doing more than you do. If you are the sort of person who likes to take your frustrations with corporate America out on the high school kid behind the counter at McDonald's, go ahead with your horn.

Me? I say "Not interested, have a nice day" and hang up.

It wasn't frustration at the person per say except after making a point of requesting to be put on their do not call list multiple times and being ignored, well some of us have to let the frustration out in some manor.

Add to that the fact that many of these companies totally ignore the federal do not call list (which apparently means nothing these days), well, my frustration mounts.

But, the problem is basically solved for my after obtaining a google voice number. They have very impressive blocking. Not once have I gotten a spam call through google voice which is the only one I give out at this point. People can also be easily blocked should they become a nuance.

🙂 Well people are always a "nuance" I think.

nuance

/?n(y)o?o?äns/
noun
noun: nuance; plural noun: nuances
1. a subtle difference in or shade of meaning, expression, or sound.
"the nuances of facial expression and body language"
synonyms: fine distinction, subtle difference;

```````````````````````````````````````````````````
I'm betting that you meant nuisance?
I'm like Norman, the first time they get a "No thank you, I am not interested, please take me off your list." Then the next time I just hit the 0 button a few times and hang up. Mostly it's "no thank you....."
If telemarketers call me after the fact that I listed my phone numbers on the do not call list, they are going to get an ear full. I don't care if it's a computer calling me. Maybe they'll tell their boss not to call that certain number that's on the do not call list for a reason.
Well that sounds very interesting. Give me your home telephone number and what time you will be sitting down for dinner with your family and I will call you and we can discuss it further.
I answer most calls.
Callers that do not show on caller ID have a few options when I answer the phone:
They must speak quickly or I hang up
When a machine voice answers, I hang up.
When a salesman starts talking I put it on speaker and go on a coffee break.
When a client answers, I talk to them and help as needed.
When a law enforcement officer asks for money, I tell them that it is against the law to call me and ask for money and then I hang up.
When a local charity calls, I tell them to send any information to the address provided and I will handle their needs by mail and not on the phone.
When an unknown caller and unknown number calls, I let it ring and never answer.
Doesn't everyone know that in this day and age, send a text message first and wait for an answer.
B-)
First off put them on speaker so that they can tell that they are on speaker. Then tell them that this call is being recorded for quality purposes. Then inform them that your time is billed at $150/hr and ask them if they accept the charges. Most of the time they will hang up on you and not call back.
Maybe pigs will fly, too. Your blood pressure will go up. That's certain.
If you find out who is calling and register a complaint with the proper authority there is a tiny chance that something positive might happen.
Whatever.... If you feel the need to waste your time listening and having a conversation with a telemarketer that knows they're not supposed to call your number because it's listed on the do not call list AND is trying to sell you some sort of debt consolidation BS scam designed to separate you from your wallet, have at it. That's your prerogative.
Me, I prefer not to, and it doesn't raise my blood pressure to tell them to stop calling me my own way.
