Sounds good. I would have to have some real butter though. And/or maybe a big glass of cold buttermilk.

Oh. Good. I thought you might tease with a big plate of country fried steaks and mash taters. White or brown gravy... I don't care. Big ole pond of cornbead suits just fine!!

Catfish Plate for Lunch

Well, I thought the catfish plate for $5.99 (a second slab of fish was under the one on top) that I had last week was pretty good.

BTW those are hush puppies beside the fries, fish, and cole slaw.

Red beans and rice soup with cornbread. Um, um, good. Too many carbs for this diabetic but I ate about two-thirds of it anyway.

Today it will be Braunschweiger with butter on white bread, maybe some potato chips and/or cottage cheese (large curd) and iced green tea.

I know you're Texan...

and you probably have a great place or two for tacos but we had Edgar's tacos in Pittsburgh and they are fantastic. Best taco I've ever had.

Edgar's on 51? That's in my neck of the woods. I only ate there once and was pretty good. My fav tacos are up in Brookline at Las Palmas. It is 5 mins from Edgars.

That is definitely unlike any taco I've ever seen. In fact, if you hadn't identified it as a taco, I'm not sure I would have known what it was. I assume it has sauerkraut and kielbasa hiding under the stuff on top?

Say, friend... You'd better go back in and get a new taco. It looks like the landscaping crew got too close to your lunch when they cut the grass.

(I hate cilantro. Apparently it's a genetic predisposition common in 10-15% of people).

I had a Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout (@ Kates) followed by 2 Suds Brothers Oatmeal Stouts (Suds) for lunch today.

OATMEAL...not just for breakfast anymore!

Locally that is known as Taco Salad and available at the Dairy Queen and across US 59 at the Taco Real.

Yesterday I made chicken noodle soup without the chicken. Went to market an got the chicken today, 7lb bird beer chicken on the grill for about an hour so far.

Remainder going into chicken pot pie in a few days.

😉

It's a soft tortilla shell. There is beef under that cheese and lettuce. These folks are outside the Mexican food wholesale store. When we visit the big city, we like to eat all the street food we can. It's maybe three or four bites of what I can only assume is pure south of the border bliss. At least it's as close to south of the border as I'll ever really get. Two tacos for $5 and the atmosphere is bustling. You can hear four or five different languages just in the time it takes to eat your taco (because my wife gets the other taco). Don't get me started on the chicken-on-a-stick lady. That's a different story.
