Many States, including Florida, will be having a ƒ??grand re-openingƒ? beginning Monday. Are you returning to ƒ??normalƒ? (for what thatƒ??s worth), or are you going to continue social distancing with mask, or like us old farts continue hibernating?

I hope I am dead wrong, but I donƒ??t think itƒ??s gonna work. Talk about a rock and a hard spot, whew! ?????ÿ

I'm reminded of the story about a missionary in the jungle.?ÿ He comes upon a clearing and he's face to face with a hungry lion.?ÿ He falls to his knees and begins to give thanks for his salvation...After a few moments he opens one eye and sees the lion down on his knees giving thanks for his dinner.

My point is that I believe it's foolish to temp fate unless you're willing to accept the outcome.?ÿ I think humans are guilty sometimes of thinking they are somehow above the laws of nature.?ÿ We're not and the outcome could be less than pretty.

The American economy has ground to a halt because it depends on you and me and the common worker.?ÿ The folks that are most vocal about "turning the economy back on" are politicians and big business.?ÿ They are not vested in my well-being.?ÿ Screw them, I'm staying locked up indoors and scared until there's a vaccine.?ÿ 😉

Our relatively ƒ??youngƒ? household (52, 50, 22, 19, 16) will remain relatively conservative and cautious.

My cousin's husband is now in Day 48 of his bout with COVID-19.?ÿ He's much improved over weeks 2 and 3 -- no more shortness of breath -- but he's still fatigued and every evening his fever hits 102, though he's able to bring that down with medication.

I don't want it, so we'll continue with mask and gloves when out among people for necessary shopping, and generally staying home otherwise.?ÿ My field work has mostly dried up, but if new work comes in I should be able to prosecute it, as I work alone and can avoid people and their stuff.?ÿ I did do a couple of hours worth of work yesterday at an ongoing pump station settlement monitoring project, and I wore gloves when opening and closing the facility gates.

I don't understand how restaurants, for example, can make their business plans work if they have to cut capacity by 50% or more.?ÿ People aren't going to pay double what they formerly paid.

I got word from my dentist's office that they plan to resume operations on June 1.?ÿ They'll take temps and administer a COVID-19 antibody test to all patients upon entry.?ÿ Dentists have been dealing with PPE ever since HIV came on the scene, so I'm confident that they can manage this new wrinkle.?ÿ I have a June 3 appointment that I intend to keep.

I don't know if things will ever be the same again.

We are coming out piecemeal.?ÿ Two weeks of a bit less restriction.?ÿ Then two weeks with a bit less restriction.?ÿ Then two weeks of getting closer to normal.?ÿ Then who knows what.?ÿ Of course, any uptick in positive cases/hospitalizations may cause a reverse action to occur.

Hair salons and barbershops are still on the no no list, for example.?ÿ Liquor stores are still drive-thru only.?ÿ No bars or clubs, etc.?ÿ Church is OK but only if everyone maintains certain distances and there is no passing of a collection plate.?ÿ Still no organized sports, parades, graduations, etc.

Not me... I'm staying put as long as possible.?ÿ ?ÿFlorida is a cluster F .... once these "soft openings" get rolling, it won't stop.?ÿ And it will Spike the death counts.?ÿ ?ÿ

Not ONE state has met the "phase one" guidelines to start re opening.?ÿ ?ÿ

You can bet yer ass they are gonna be holed up at one of their "vacation homes". After, of course, they finish counting the "bailout"millions they just received "by mistake" that was meant for small businesses, and have no intention of giving it back.?ÿ

Anyone who wants to learn more about how the disease and possible treatments operate should watch some of the videos found by searching for:

medcram covid

The guy is an MD pulmonologist who somehow finds time to treat patients, read the latest research, and make almost daily videos.?ÿ He is an outstanding lecturer who can explain the biochemistry to those who are prepared for it, while at the same time telling a less technical audience what it all means in practice.?ÿ You have to let a lot of biochemistry slide by if you aren't into that, in order to get the gems of practicality.

From a couple of those videos, I get the takeaway that it isn't just a lung problem, but rather inflammation of the whole vascular system.?ÿ Among the evidence of that is a surprising number of young people coming in with strokes or clotting issues who then test positive for COVID, and a lot of patients with the disease showing blotches where the blood vessels are inflamed and/or clogged.?ÿ

He presented statistics from NYC that showed the leading risk factors were NOT COPD or asthma, but hypertension, obesity, and diabetes - all conditions that involve the blood vessels.

He listed the things he is doing to protect himself, besides sanitary practices, including making sure he takes in an adequate (not mega) supply of vitamin C, vitamin D, and zinc.?ÿ He mentioned an antioxidant supplement called quercetin that I want to read more about.?ÿ I suppose it is all gone from the stores.

I feel sorry for those who cannot get away from a multitude of others without withdrawing into their own caves.

It is great to derive an income without needing to be around large numbers of people.?ÿ Work is when I am the most remote.

But, the work load is expanding so that's more stops at gas pumps and grabbing snacks/drinks while there.?ÿ That, by far, would be the most likely source of an infection for me.

Gas stops are pretty benign if you use gloves and/or hand sanitizer. Have sanitizer ready and use one hand for the pump and one for your credit card. Drinks and snacks can be stocked ahead so you don't need to go into the store at the station.?ÿ The hard part is restroom stops unless you are working in the far boonies out of sight.?ÿ If I had to use a public restroom (if I could even find one open) I would want to carry sanitizer wipes for everything I would touch.

Only the most bustling urban settings keep me from taking a leak when needed.?ÿ Truck door, large tree, shrubbery, fence, utility cabinet, etc. have all provided adequate cover for me over the years.

Amen, brother.

Creative parking, in anticipation, is very near the top of my checklist upon arrival at a new site.

I'll admit to only time in almost 50 years in the filed, when I had to eliminate and it was not number 1. Again, a creative parking procedure in a parking lot of an abandoned warehouse in need of a an ALTA survey saved my.... day.

My wife continues to work (she's a Nurse Practitioner) and I'll continue my one day a week observation of silt and erosion control projects.?ÿ Luckily I very seldom, if ever, have to get out of my truck to do that.?ÿ I keep gloves, hand sanitizer and mask in my truck for those times that I do have to get out.?ÿ We live in a 55 and over community and, as far as I know, all our neighbors and isolating with the exception of walking around the neighborhood.

We have plenty of 55 and over communities around here.?ÿ It wasn't intended to be that way.?ÿ That's what happens when the young ones go to college and never come back.

On the list of states with the highest level of out migration currently the top five are: New Jersey, Illinois, Connecticut, New York and Kansas.

Unfortunately I have to go to the store on occasion which would be okay if Americans could follow simple instructions. Like how hard is it to understand stay 6 feet away from other people. Have to pass a guy in the narrow tool aisle, he has his cart right in the middle, okay he moves it to the side opposite from where he is standing, so now I have to go between him and his cart. Just basic lack of common sense.

people walking within 6 inches on a wide aisle, especially older people. They limit the number of people in the store which helps.

why does my face start itching as soon as I get in my truck? Don't touch face don't touch face.
