Well, my wife and I are about to upgrade out phones. My two girls got their new ones about two weeks ago. One stayed with the iphone, and went with the iphone 6, and the other went with the Samsung S6 something I think.

My wife is going to stay with the iphone because she works on the Navy Base, and she is in charge of deploying iphones, so she wants to stay familiar with the ios and what not.

I have had an iphone 3 and an iphone 4S, and they have been fine. I mostly use it for calls, emails, texting, and a hotspot. I do take pictures with it a lot instead of carrying around a separate camera, unless I have a lot of pictures to take of a site.

What do you prefer?

Thanks in advance,
Jimmy

I really like the Droid OS and I currently have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3. It has a large screen, battery life is decent and I like the multiple window feature. That being said, I think the iphone camera is much better than anything I've had on the Droid platform (last 3 phones).

Still happy with my iPhone.

My dad just switched from iPhone to S6.

He is not happy. Change. Plus they lost a lot of his contacts somehow.

I've been quite a fan of Android for years now. This latest version (Lollipop) though has me a bit steamed. They seem to be going backward -- making it harder to use rather than easier. I've been a fan of Android mainly because of the openness and ability to tinker, unlike the Apple products. I'm also all-in with the Google ecosystem (apps, email, etc.). I'm currently using a Moto X (2nd gen) and it's a great phone. When I had sold my soul to Big Red, I had a wonderful Galaxy Note 3. It was the best phone in existence and I agree with that to some extent to this day. I miss it. A lot. But I hated the gouging I got from Big Red, so I moved away from them and went with a start-up called Republic Wireless. They have a pretty cool way of looking at things and I wanted to support them. I still want to support them, but have had enough problems with this "new" technology that I've decided it's time to go back to something more mainstream. One thing is certain: I won't be selling my soul back to Big Red. They can go stuff it.

However, I've recently been looking at Windows phones. I'm really happy with my Surface Pro 3 and Windows 10 in general, and thought that a Windows phone might actually make life a bit easier. I've even considered moving to Office 365 instead of Google Apps for Work. The only thing keeping me with Google at this point is their superior spam control. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, can touch them when it comes to the awesome spam control they have. But that's for another discussion.

A friend of mine has a Windows phone, plus a guy in my networking group has one. He uses it for presentations and all kinds of stuff that I never even thought to do with my Android phones. He can't remember the last time he rebooted and it never seems to throw errors or anything. It just works. I believe it's the Nokia Lumia 928. The current models are slim, but Microsoft has said that they'll be releasing a new one (or two) sometime around the Windows 10 release. So I'm hoping to see something soon.

I am really pleased with my Samsung droid. SWMBO is an iphone user, simply to remain easily connected with her mother and sister, both apple fans. I am not an apple fan, so I resist.

droid allows choice 😉

Which is the advice I've always heard. If you like to tinker and be on the cutting edge, go Android. If you want it to always work, go iphone. I'm on my 3rd iphone (3s, 4, 4s) and will be upgrading to a 6 next month when my contract is up.
