We took out two pecan trees by choice ... And they must have ALL moved to the only pecan tree remaining. They must have one heck of a party every day because my drive is filled with shells and 1/2 eaten nuts when we come home ... (and maybe they drive is covered in the morning and I'm just too sleepy to notice). What kind of dog should we get? 🙂

No kidding, Pin. Them little furry tailed rats are shot on sight at my cabin. They have been the cause of several house fires in the area, chewing through the wiring as they get in the house. They do know how far I can shoot with the .22 thoough. They stay a 100 yards from the cabin and chew me out. I cut their tails off and staple them to the tree I shot them out of.

Neighbors could always tell if I had a couple of (ahem) adult beverages, as I would end up emptying a full 10 round mag thru the 10/22. Of course, if that didn't get the little bastards, out would come the 12 ga!

I think they can count too. They always seem to make a run for it while I'm reloading.
A feisty German Shorthair would make a fine squirrel dog.

You need a dog that has never experienced commercial dog food. One that recognizes lunch and knows how to get it.

outdoor cats. They'll keep them away!

my moms little wire haired terrier catches squirrels all the time. I think they like to tease him, but he is one little fast dog.

We had one cat, out of a dozen or so, that would stalk, not the squirrel, but the tree limb that the squirrel would run for.

They would run for the same low lying branch, from opposite sides of the yard, occasionally the cat would get there first and enjoy a squirrel dinner.

Terriers are a terror on rats.

Squirrels are rats with a bushy tail.

The squirrels at my parents' house have chewed up the plastic boarder around the front windshield of both their cars. My mom does not like guns, but she has signed a death warrant on the squirrels for messing with her Mercedes.

I loaned my dad my Savage Mark II loaded with CB caps. Now they will only come out when my dad is away from the house. o.O

Have you ever seen a squirrel at night?

Squirrels do not have the tapetum lucidum layer that allows most animals to see at night better than humans. This is also what makes most animals eyes glow at night when you shine a light at them.

Yes, to the urination question

One of my daughters was helping a professional photographer work with a family in a park for some casual family photos. Suddenly, her shoulder was getting wet. She looked up to discover a squirrel was responsible for her situation. Several others witnessed the event as it happened.
