@nate-the-surveyor

What is jalapeno egg chicken?  Is it egg?  Is it chicken?  Is it both?  And, for that matter, why would anyone destroy it by adding jalapeno?

What is jalapeno egg chicken?

Since I really don't know, (Except what the little Mexican lady said), it was:

Some of the tenderest chicken.

And, a fairly hot sauce. (The little Mexican lady said it would be too hot for me).

Really, I don't know what it was... The little Mexican lady's mom was there, and mom did not speak english... I don't know what it was. Mom had made it.

I told the girl to tell mamma that "I'd had a blood transfusion with a Mexican, and loved it".

They just grinned. It may have been lost in translation.

Nate

I have been humbled. Landed in Memphis TN Saturday the humidity took my breath away. Drove into North Mississippi to see my mom and dad and fetch my daughters home. They have been with grandma for a week. I did some chores around the house and I will just admit. I can’t handle that heat anymore. Woke up Sunday morning and had breakfast and off to church at 86 degrees and I was sweating before I made it to the car. I am finally back home home. Much cooler here. I think my dad said we hit 100 plus before the heat index hit.  I visited with an old friend from middle school through college. He surveys as well. I said how do you do this. He said you use to. I said man what was I thinking.  I guess we get use to whatever. But man that was a scorcher. Thank goodness for air conditioning and homemade ice cream.

I generally don't work more than 4 or 5 (or 3!) hours in the field anymore as I ease toward retirement, but I have some elementary school topos to get done before school starts on Thursday, so I've had to make exceptions.  Yesterday I left the office around 7:45 a.m. and didn't wrap up in the field until 6:15 p.m.  It was a little over 100°F, and by the time I got everything put away and got in the truck to head home, I was wasted.  I'm just too old to do a full day's field work in that kind of weather anymore -- in fact, it's probably dangerous at this point in my life.

I took my grandsons (13 & 15) on the train to Fort Worth yesterday for a steak lunch at the stockyards.  School is starting for them real quick and we did "one more" fool-around before classes.  I don't know how hot it was in FW yesterday but it nearly killed this old fart.  The Flyer left the station at 5:35 PM right at the peak of the daily heat.

We sat in the shady courtyard and watched the local EMSA and FWFD perform 2 separate transports for heat related symptoms.  Both seemed to be local indigent characters.  One was ambulatory and lucid.  I thought he might just be getting a free ride to the ER.  The other was an older and larger fella that collapsed and fell off his park bench right before out eyes.  I have to admit his color didn't look good and he was unresponsive.  The EMT crews treated each incident accordingly.  I hope the latter is OK and still with us.

I fell asleep on the ride north and woke when a the whistle stop in Gainesville.  I was one tuckered Pawpaw when we climbed out in OKC last night.

It's really no wonder why saunas have never caught on down there. Half the year all somebody has to do is walk outside.

Interesting description.

Looks like low 80's for today (big warm up). Left the office at 5am and it was 49 as I drove down the interstate. It hasn't stopped raining even in mid August. I turned on my sprinklers in mid July and turned them off again last Thursday.  Very green and lush in many areas still, which is highly unusual.

I'm going to be gone for a bit over a week and I figure I'll set the system to water the lawn a couple of times while I'm gone. It's not predicted to reach 90 for the entire week.
