We had some too, with a good dose of bacon thrown in.?ÿ I had jalapenos with mine.?ÿ
I don't think I've ever been guilty of saying, "Wow, black-eyes sound great for supper!"....but I enjoy them while they're here.?ÿ My sister-in-law hailed from Terra Haute, IN.?ÿ Wouldn't allow them in her house.?ÿ She?ÿcalled them cowpeas, and literally so...because she considered them 'livestock feed' and not fit for human consumption.?ÿ
I don't know if everybody from Terra Haute felt the same; she was the only person from there I ever met.

For me, the same way I attempt to deal with the stupid hot garbage we get. As the old Nike commercial says, "just do it".
Yes, 17 is cold. And I am less tolerant of extreme cold as I get older. On the other hand, I've always hated extreme hot (for me, that is anything above 80. If I'm standing in the sun, I will be sweating my ever loving rear end off at 65.)
So, when all is said an done, I will take 17 over 90 each and every day of the year. I can attempt to dress for 17 So much easier than 90. I also warm up easier than cool down.
