Umbrellas?
Umbrella(s)???
one of my kids has the habit of removing shoes and socks as he passes through the threshold and then flinging them in random directions... so maybe places to put hampers to catch wet or dirty articles of clothing as you walk in(??? - just a WAG)
Originally there would be drip pans for the umbrellas
I'd probably use it for rover rods and bipods. 😉
The drawer would be full of PKs, shiners, flagged 20 penny nails, 3/4" long pieces of Kiel and little postage stamp pieces of paper torn from the corner of plan sheets with stations and distance scribbled on them.

Canes and umbrellas
Wendell,
I do believe that you have been properly answered.
😎
I am with paden. My first thought: tri-pods.
But it is probably umbrellas.

Yeah, my first thought was canes and umbrellas too but I wasn't sure, so thank you for the many confirmations! 🙂
I was going to suggest something far racier but decided to let it go.
It was my moms... We're down here in Southern Crapafornia cleaning out her house. My mom has always loved this piece of furniture so I cleaned it, polished it, and it is going back to Oregon with us next month. :innocent:

It is a beautiful piece of furniture, but it aint a key rack or tote holder. BTW the tote with the mouses is chic. 😉

You guys are funny.
Don't make me tell the story how I ran into Katherine Heigl and Charlize Theron hitchhiking in the pouring rain late one night...and they both were knee-walking drunk and in a big hurry to get out of all those wet clothes...
