My wife planted a number of spices in the kitchen window sill and outside in the planter boxes on the deck. She goes out there and looks at them as cute, like her little children growing up and preparing for life in the big world. All I can think about is how they need to hurry the hell up so I can put them on my steak.

I have Basil, Oregano, Thyme, Sage and Rosemary growing in a little pot where I normally grow my garden. It sure is nice to go cut a little and bring it in. It makes the whole house smell better.

We did something similar one year with goats. The kids named them, thus protecting them from their destiny of freezer meat.

When I was growing up, the steer that was destined to fill our freezer was always named Beefsteak.

Be careful with the mints and rosemary.

I think they are in a race with berry vines to take over the world.

I love pesto with fresh basil. We can have it early in the season in Oklahoma, but it bolts and goes to seed when the heat hits it. The leaves turn bitter after that. Cilantro does the same thing.

There is a Hot Oregano you can grow. Had no idea this existed 'til Deb planted some.

You left out the Tomatoes, Zucchini, Cucumbers, Cantaloupes, and ...I forgot what else I got out there. I need to add more, though. I want a pear tree and blueberry bushes and...I'll think of something else soon.

Apparently Angel is confessing to being a spicy wife. We had been making that assumption anyway, but hearing it from the source is even better.
