Anybody use this stuff? Whats your experience?

I always thought it was a marketing gimmick thing but tried it last month when I was working a rather long hour and rigorous survey out on the ice and was surprised that I kinda got a speed energy rush from the stuff... Still not sure if that was pseudo placebo effect coupled with adrenaline because i was actually working on thin ice. I see the ingredients are saying over 8000 units of a daily recommended allowance of your B vitamin requirements. Thats quite a massive dose of infusion... but recently the inventor dude is on commercials on the telly now defending his product...

Allegedly this stuff has caused some deaths, but that might just be media hype, I don't think it has been proved, in the meanwhile he seems to have gotten aggressive with the ads.

Stacked up on the counters at truck stops if that tells you anything!

I have been a bit afraid to try it due to being, can't think it would really be good for anyone, he claims he chugs one a day personally.

o.O

You don't need it. You shouldn't do it.

Just make sure to get at least 8 hours of sleep and every thing will be OK.

I haven't tried one, but I am on medically prescribed B-12 injections, I can tell you that stuff keeps the lead in your pencil for sure! haha

I worry about those energy drinks after I had a young guy pull over while I was working on the road.. thought he was having a heart attack after drinking some kind of energy product. called 9-11 for him, they said they see this a lot.
so I'd test it out to see how you react, sounds like your body handled it just fine, so once in a while might not be a bad thing.

all things in moderation.

use as directed. that is, the first time you try it, drink only half of one and wait 30 minutes or more. If you don't feel much of anything, drink the other half. after a while, you may feel a bit of a flush to your neck - it's the niacin. these 5 hour energy drinks work well, but won't do a darn thing if you have had too much to drink prior to drinking the 5 hour drink. As SWMBO and I are used to going to bed EARLY, and getting up EARLY - once in a while we find ourselves wanting to stay up and go out past 8pm (can you believe it?), past our bedtime. we split one of these 5 hour drinks and we're good to go like a couple 30 year olds. I can't say I would drink one daily, as a once in a while boost of energy, seems pretty harmless.
WAY better than redbull, which is the only other energy drink I have tried.
as to getting 8 hours of sleep - that's what vacations/holidays are for.

Before I switched to coffee I drank them all the time; the effect does get diminished with continual use but they still help. HOWEVER!! Do not drink more than 4 in a day, for that 5th one would be 25 hours of energy, which is more than one day (all day energy) and you would probably die. Oh yeah, beware the niacin flush and following itch.:-O

That flushing and itching is what I call manopause! Very similar to HOT FLASHES for women.

I take 1000 mg of Niacin on a daily basis to help my cholesterol levels. Had to get the no-flush version. The other stuff maybe hot, itchy and red faced. Seemed to work, but now my Dr. tells me there is studies this stuff isn't that good for you. So I am going to take 6 months off of it and see the results. Also taking Fish Oil to help.

I sometimes use them when I'm having a long day or going on a long drive by myself.

Placbo or not, it seems to help. I would not do it on a daily basis.

How about 20 cups of strong coffee, a little LSD, some aspirin, a little Coke, a couple of twinkies, some diet pills, a snort of energy capsules and a pair of purple sunglasses?

[sarcasm]that may work for you, but I'd strongly suggest not going on a long drive after you down all that![/sarcasm] (hoping the sarcasm tab is working right)

I picked up some CoQ10 at Costco and take one, pretty much every day. Seems to help, but not in a big, overwhelming rush, kind of way. Like with the 5-hour energy....

I've done this infrequently, they do seem to work and it helps to plan ahead- to that it's about worn off at the same time you exprct to arrive at your destination. If I'm 1 hr out but tired, I pull over and sleep for 30 minutes.

concur on the flush- i don't get the itch.

I hate to break it to ya, but I'll bet the camera man is hoping for an 'action' shot.

I would be.
